The poor HGV driver's been proper stitched up by lift supervisor Shaun on the Tideway job. Despite being a lift supervisor, and Shaun overseeing the loading - the driver declared it "fine" so its now his responsibility!

These are gold Rory, love this thread, its my new favourite (y)

Some of these incidents (and the company responses) are ridiculous, but there’s a lot to be learned from looking through them and reading the details. We used to get a daily brief of safety incidents, three out of every four involved forklifts. I was taken off cc soon after challenging the H&S dept why they could spare three people to come and show us how to put a pair of gloves on after they‘d completely ignored a number of reported near misses at the same blind corner.

Are you supposed to have a special ticket to load a machine on to a truck? re dropping buckets.

I believe there is.
A npors trainer was trying to sell me it a few weeks ago, "I`m surprised you`ve not be asked for it" which I replied "I try and avoid those type of sites, more hassle that its worth" :D

I've got npors loader /securer I've never been asked for it but it is a good way to keep them off your back when something I dont have a ticket for is parked on the way. It's not exactly rocket science the test though and has nothing in it about carrying buckets

driver should have asked for it to be re-loaded if he wasn't happy .... obviously as incompetent as the clowns that loaded it, if he thought an inch of keruing was going to take that sort of point loading ..... blind leading the blind

I would rather the low loader driver loads the equipment. I've seen several machines slip off the side in icy or snowy conditions, but few people want to load my Menzi. It is not difficult and Paul Mogman does, but no-one else apart from Tom, the dealer, will even look at it. As I don't have a loading ticket I guess I shouldn't be able to get it hauled anywhere.
Do you need a loader/securer ticket for every different machine you carry or does one cover it?

The crane driving with boom erected would have been a good site. No warning system fitted. Nowt like getting out and having a look! I get nervous driving a van in a multi storey even when you fit under the chains

depends whether it has any FOW duties or not, but on the whole it is poss to move a machine without the boom fully on its rest (usually) .... having it elevated that far was just asking for trouble...... same as most of these articles Rory has unearthed ... muppets involved

What were we saying crane drivers get paid the other month. I don't like letting a labourer use my kit let alone some plant worth a few hundred k
