So many people in England are running mini diggers for the same money or less than a plasterer charges for a trowel and some elbow grease.
I'd personally disagree with being smart to pay the finance off aggresively, unless you are on a variable tarrif. A five year fixed deal at an interest rate below the current official rate of inflation (and way below the real rate) has given me leverage in a way that would have been unthinkable back in the eighties when most of the old codgers here started

Mind you, they got the cheap houses.
