Wish i could at times go on them a fair bit for work and is never a quick trip even once you are on the bases as you cant go anywhere alone

Friday my cat salesman got my big smooth/muck bucket for the backhoe delivered, and what fun that is! I don't know how i lived without this for so long! I want a hydraulic quick coupler now, although still debating about S-Type. There is something to be said for sticking with the manufactures hitch system, but the versatility of s50 would be nice. A compaction wheel is also high on the list now! any thoughts anyone?? very keen to hear others opinions. I'm self tought, so I've never really seen what a backhoe can do, just used mine.

What control pattern is the backhoe on sticks or iso joysticks like an excavator?

we have few patterns on sticks sae and jcb X if I recall.

do you not have sideshift like our back hoes? Just fixed in middle interesting working with legs stick out like that not inline how do you work up close to say building or fence wall etc

Must make the machine super stable compared to them being right in under the rear wheels

It's Pilot Type excavator controls. Yes, its a center Pivot. To work near walls you have to have the machine at 30 degrees or so to the building, and it's not so fun. I would like a 444 side shift, but i really need the width, we use backhoes to straddle ditches a LOT, for what i do.

std practise on US bases in the UK .... accompanied everywhere in the perimeter ... pretty much the case in the SAS camp too, when we go in there

I cant believe you have run just one bucket for so long? Over here that kind of machine would have 4 or 5 lined up in the front bucket for different jobs. You guys seem to dig the same sized hole for everything?

Not here. Sod carrying millions of buckets. Most of time I have only the bucket on the back and if I take 2 with me it's usually the ditch and 2ft....rest stay in yard unless I know I need a particular size or unless a size has been requested when booking.

7 buckets and a ripper with mine. Could do with losing a couple but my driver assures me he used them all.

Well, My whole crew has come down with the covid, and several are very ill. Has put a stop to building the great wall of........, but the backfilling and backhoe work must go on! getting ready for some smaller works in a very expensive rural area near the headquarters of Microsoft. I'm looking for a dumper like @Gunners has got to use with my 301.8, but the only 1 ton dumpers I can find here are 30 grand used. We also decided the 321 is going back to cat, its too much debt for a machine we don't really like. Going to try a 325 cat, a 320, 926 liebherr, and a JCB 220X. Aside from a dumper, should be my last machine purchase for several years. time to pay some things off and build a house for myself.

exactly, we rent, if we decide to buy, all rent gets discounted against purchase price.

Built a nice little rockery at the end of this week, a local contractor offered me crazy money for my 1.8, so we’re considering the offer and purchasing a 303.5, with an Engcon and Lieca 2d

The Engcon SK grapple is VERY good for rock work, and VERY nicely made.

Might have to consider that, I loves skid steer, but they make a mess in the winter here, if I could use a dumper on plywood, we could do much nicer work.

If you want mess free do you guys run tracked dumpers much over there.
A 3t tracked dumper literally floats over the ground.
I drove one over a completely saturated field for a week solid and after a heavy rain you wouldn't of told I hade been there

A tracked dumper can’t even be compared to a wheeled dumper when it comes to sticky stuff. Yeah they don’t shift as much, but they just keep going and you save a fortune on reinstatement costs.
