9 t wide tracks

My 5.5 ton is lighter obviously but on its 550mm steels it literally floats teamed up to our 5 ton yanmar tracked dumper you can be on stuff you can’t walk on.

Saw this thought of you for cutting tracks down

16 ton is on 800s and that does pretty well on the soft stuff but does sink on seriously wet stuff

I'd be doing something like this
The machine is a keeper, the JCB design is not at all elegant, and ideally you want even tracks with no restriction on the functionality of the blade

Once I’ve removed these rams I’ll have a measure and see what we would need to replicate the same range of movement from those points. My gut feeling is you’d need a telescopic ram as the distance is so short.

There’s a possibility I might be able to get away with the original rams turned around and minus the guards also.

For now, the priority is to get it onto steel tracks for this season so I think a pair of chain binders is the cheapest route

So I’ve had a good look at the 86c spec, and there is no mention of not being able to spec a tilt blade with 600 pads.. (I appreciate you physically can’t) I wonder if JCB have an alternative blade configuration? Normally they’d say on the spec if you can’t have one option with another. Or just computer says no when you try and order them together I guess.

Id go for keeping it simple like you say, standard 600’s and chain the blade up - I’d always loose the angle blade over not sinking!

Long term solution, rather than have the rams at angles. Could you plasma cut a hole through the front face of the frame. And weld a tube in and the cylinder pass through the tube and onto the other side of the frame. If you had one cylinder each side they would only need to be single acting and you could mount them so the cylinder runs through the hole and the rod stays static to reduce the chance of damage.

Do you use the blade that much? I’ve only ever used them to clean up against or level up or sometimes push a pile back up never to cut a road box etc.

Yes and no. Originally I thought it wasnt much use as only 4 way. But it's handy to cast material to one side as you go sometimes.

Yes, I’m not working on that soft ground. Heathland is very soft sand which lets you sink just enough that it’s constantly annoying on 450 rubbers, but there’s no way you could ever get a machine physically trapped in it.

A couple of feet down is the ironstone sand layer which is much harder.

recently lost out on some wetland creation work for the trust to these lot who have this setup, they do a lot of the 'moors for the future' gravy train work! cash power hose ive heard, spend about 3m a year on the moors.

me and another lad where around 17k these lads in at 13k was over 4k of stone for gully blocking and 2 weeks of machine and track dumper work!

recently lost out on some wetland creation work for the trust to these lot who have this setup, they do a lot of the 'moors for the future' gravy train work! cash power hose ive heard, spend about 3m a year on the moors.

me and another lad where around 17k these lads in at 13k was over 4k of stone for gully blocking and 2 weeks of machine and track dumper work!

Most of my jobs are smaller and less of a drag.

So 9 grand for a fortnights digger and dumper work ? Ami reading that right .or have they bought the work to get in a such ?

well 2 weeks always becomes 3 and they're are restriction on working in the wet etc even with lgp tracks

2 guys 8 ton and track dumper is 1k a day so 15 days 15k so they bought it or they're margins are low/lower

fair bit to shift to block drains and channels won from scrape out ponds 190m3 of stuff to relocate 50-100m at a time

ex senior ranger so well known, runs a fews bcs tractors etc doing conservation works and has a river of moors money pouring in, trust want me to get involved in peat work so their are more contractors even putting me in touch with favorable finance brokers etc but not something I want to be doing at the moment with young kids. sat on a moorland hours away from a road etc, plus its not just a wide track machine you need support equipment for fuel and stuff to dam up waterways and transport to it etc taking my quad with me each day etc or argot cat
