Your over thinking it too much, you dont need anything more than 600s. Your not on bogland, and if 450s are getting past then even 550s will be a huge difference.

Go for the 600 off set or cut down 550s or what ever they are, leave the blade alone

Ffs. 100% consensus on loosing the blade angle and now you come along with a contrarian view!🤣

Cut down 600s would be 525mm overall, maybe even 500, which doesn’t seem worth doing?

And cut down 800s would have a massive offset.

How about I buy 600s and remove the angle for now, if I really miss it you can sell me a set of secondhand track plates to cut about and experiment with? Or do you even have a secondhand set in stock I could cut and try on the new chains before removing blade?

I was even wondering if I could just use some chain binders to hold the blade straight for the time being…i

Having looked at all the photos of machines posted when I asked the question on FB I do think 800mm is too much for my work.

You absolutely sure that you can't modify the frame to keep the angle blade and run wide tracks ? ........
..... I know that a lot of people get hung up on the whole CE marking thing but I suspect that you're not one of them 😅

It's in the back of my mind- but lack of time currently, hence the musing about just tying it tight with chains and binders for this winter 🤣

I'm pretty sure I'd have to buy two new rams, which is a minefield matching stroke length etc. I'll post some better pics in a bit when I go down to measure overall width.

I'm 100% with Aiden.
We've been around a few wide track setups..... None have helped enough to outweigh the drawbacks with the extra width..... and a KX080 on woodland work that just malleted the rails/chains and ate bottom rollers sums it up for me

But loose the angle or not? 600mm centred or 600mm offset to keep the blade?

Personally I'd offset. And just trundle up to either 600mm offset or even 550mm with offset.

You aren't using the machine constantly and your getting the work done as is. You like the blade and you know your own work.

Personally I'd just swap to steels that fit. Steel over rubber will make a difference anyway.

Ok. So… I think there’s a chance that I could run 609s centrally and keep the blade.

Loose the blade ram guards (I know, I know), and flip the rams so the ports are on the other side. Mag drill as much of a circle as the weld seam will allow in the blade frame to fit some bulkhead fittings to keep the hoses out of harms way.

Might need to add a couple of collars to the rams to restrict travel each way if it looks like it’ll hit when fully offset. Or cut a smidge off each track pad.

I think it’s ’won’t know till we try!’

Ok. So… I think there’s a chance that I could run 609s centrally and keep the blade.

Surely when the blade tilts though the rams arc out slightly so would then foul the tracks?

To me if the machine is planted centrally on the tracks you are spreading the weigh equally on the track pads. As soon as you offset the pads the weight of the machine pressing down the rollers/idlers and sprockets asymmetrically cause contortion and wear, I think to gain true equal flotation across the pad they would be better placed centrally🤔

Yes i'm really not keen on the idea of offset, particularly 225mm one side and 400mm the other. Surely it will wear the chains double quick?

Step away from the blade and leave it alone 🫣
Put on the widest you can fit. 450 steels will actually be better than 450 rubbers.

Personally id go with 600s cut down.

If Big Aidy says it'll work, it'll work 😆
