I was meant to have the electric Hilux last week but went on holiday instead. I will get another demo of it and try and get one of Isuzu and ford and any others aswell as I think I will be getting electric to replace my current truck and I don't want a car and the little vans have terrible range and I don't really want a little van. Will probably be a Hilux due to the ridiculous discount we get with them.

Just seen these being imported now aswell. Editedvto say they are saying 3500kg towing
I spent ages the other night on Gemini grilling it about EV vans etc as we were looking at a ID buzz or e transporter In short unless you have home charging you'll get a shock...excuse the pun.
It reckoned for the mileage I did it would be on par with a V6 amarok cost per mile if you charged up at services etc! Bonkers!
Getting a van that does more than 200 miles real world is nigh on impossible.

And no I'm not bonkers...but at 2quid a litre I thought I'd be open minded about options...no chance ATM.

I have been converted to electric for the school commute in the BMW i3. Range Rover has been sorn. But as far as a work truck goes, electric is not viable if you want to tow. Some very keep electric Maxus pick ups about. But nothing close to what my old Iveco can carry and tow.

I wouldn't be paying for it, but just out of convenience I would want one of the chargers at home that has it's own sub meter payed for by the company. Then we have chargers in the yard and when we bought the big site generator we sized it to charge e.v's. milage wise in theory the electric Hilux would do me and there are pool hiluxs for longer journeys

@Gunners not sure if I seen a post on it but what vehicle did you recently change to?
I've got a commercial Grenadier on order. Not got it yet, but shouldn't be too long now. Really struggled to know which way to go with this vehicle change this time, and maybe I've got carried away with the Grenadier, but I always liked the old Defender - even with its quirks. The Grenadier isn't perfect, although a few years in now and they have updated them slightly. But there's no doubt the engine and gearbox combo are the ones to have, and the whole thing is built very well. Time will tell if its worth the money - it needs to last about 20 years to be as good value as my Navara has been!
I'm just trying to work out if I can make a sealed bulkhead for it as don't really want the dust and fumes in the cab - a big advantage with the pickups having that separate load bay.
I'll let you all know when I get it, and no doubt make some videos with it as I start to use it. There's tons of people going overlanding with them - and cant find anyone actually using it for work!

Kia pv5 has an official range over 200 not sure on actual usage when loaded, sub 30k plus vat but I'm sure it's a fair bit smaller than a custom but have seen quite a lot floating about lately

Nice!! Very interested to see how you go.
They don't leave me alone since I cancelled my original first build slot. Enjoyed my afternoon out in one 🙂

Can't imagine many other of the influencers in UK are running them...should be good for the channel

Still fancy 1 too. Working out of the ranger frustrates me. Transit is sorned as dpf issue the grafter not used for a month. Quiet times so will see next spring might have to off load something then. In the meantime my flight beckons with some interesting possibilities East

180milesbit can be 150 with max load and winter etc they reckon max with any load etc....
Think it's mid 200s official for the long range, they did hypermile a fully loaded one 431 miles on a single charge on real public roads but who knows what sort of conditions or pre set stuff they had on the route

Oooh. Looking forward to your reviews on this. They do seem to be well liked for towing on the auto boxes. I didnt know the commercial was out yet. Domyou get the VAT on it and avoid the BIK?

At £52k RRP for a commercial Grenadier, it needs to last twenty years with no hassle.

Whilst I like the concept, I couldn't justify dropping that much on a truck when sub £10k gets you a low mileage 3.2 Ranger. If they made a single cab pickup tipper variant then I might be able to justify it more (on the drip) as a replacement for both the Iveco and the Ranger tipper.

Mind you, a new Iveco tipper is 44k plus vat! If Ineos could do a tipper for 50k that would seem a bargain in comparison.

A stripped back auto grenadier with a choice of either tipper, flatbed or van back and they'd be flying out the door between £40-£45k. Don't think that's unreasonable ask when a 2.8l Hilux in decent spec can be had for under £40k...
