2025 van purchases

What was the year of it ? Give me an idea of when they were available . I know that SSE would likely use them up here as often towing cables and minis and in very remote spots . Also scottish water as it’s been an issue of there’s to keep vehicles legal. Will help me find a used one
around `20 but it was a dropside.

My oldman fancies a pickup but he's now thinking about a 2 year old old one instead of new

My customer today selling his 69plate full size Range Rover. He reckons he’s lost half its value since he bought it 2 years ago and his insurance jumped from £700 upto £2000. He’s leasing a Raptor instead 😂

New from April, then 2029 it’s widespread I believe.. I’m pretty sure from that point it really only affects the bik and road tax. If your self employed it won’t make sod all difference anyway

No its all pickups. But there's a loophole until 2029 if you have owned/ordered before 1st April. New pickup sales are through the roof ATM.
You buy one after the 1st you are screwed.

This sums it up and now king cabs etc now included
Basically 1 finger up to the working man but you can still run a 100k leccy Porsche for next nothing . Twats

Ved is the same it's only bik and AIA rules that change so anyone purchasing as a private vehicle is unaffected and sole traders lose out on how to claim on tax return.
I think it's any purchases of double cab pickups or vans after April regardless if new or not would attract the car bik and not be fully claimable under aia but only at a 6 percent right off although vat can be reclaimed.
If your buying one as a company car then anything before the April date gets the bik and AIA break till 2029.

I'm on the fence with what to do I don't have mine as a company vehicle but would be nice to get a large amount taken off as AIA but on the other hand if I sold the ranger buying a new 3l wouldn't cost me much so could roll the dice and wait to see if any new values dip (which I doubt)

Pam was reading somewhere the other day some item that said some new vehicles after April will be subject to summat like £2.5k VED on first taxing new ..... AND leccy chariots will be subject to VED post April '25

going to order a 2026/7 daily high top before they stop the diesels altogether. one of the few real vans left with a proper ladder chassis that doesnt have a blancmange for an engine.

Yes! They all been having a hissy fit at having to pay road tax 🤭😂😂

Just wait till it changes to pay per mile
TBH it makes sense as those not using the road as much get a bad deal. It could be a bit like electricity tariff, a standing charge of around 50% of what we currently pay then some much for every K when it comes to MOT time

would suit me fine - don't do a lot of miles, but can imagine it'd 'bankrupt' a lot of ppl
Would like to see VED binned, altogether, but'll never happen - too much of an earner on the backs of ppl who do little mileage and/or maybe own a few vehicles :mad:
only 12% (theoretically) goes towards the roads anyway - more like 0.12% 'round here -- roads are in a hell of a state, including the main trunk roads - gert potholes in all of them and the lesser roads are more like cart tracks in places :mad::mad:

Would be very expensive to sack off ved. Pay per mile should only apply to electric vehicles but would make them too expensive, for anyone not able to charge at their house. Public fast chargers are far more expensive than fuel, then a mileage fee on top would be ridiculous.
Problem is the lack of fuel duty has to be filled somewhere.
