What vans everyone buying these days. We've a small fleet of transits, a custom and a connect but the new transit is mighty costly nowadays. You almost get two Maxus for one transit
Yes the Maxus is cheap to purchase. Parts are ridiculously expensive and not always readily available. Slightly different but wanted a clutch and flywheel for an MG. Nothing available from aftermarket due to Chinese property rights and parts not available from china for 6 months minimum. What vans everyone buying these days. Now there's an oxymoron.Yes the Maxus is cheap to purchase. Parts are ridiculously expensive and not always readily available. Slightly different but wanted a clutch and flywheel for an MG. Saw a post from a firm on li last week with a list of horror stories about their maxus vans, dealer support nil, parts supply was horrific and the dealer then stated it was a 1 year warranty with 2 years extra goodwill or something. There's a reason their cheap.Interestingly enough , was looking at the Maxus 7 (fake transit custom) this week and my mechanic/garage told me he would leave me if I bought one !
Was 10k cheaper on new price though.
We are looking to add a L2H2 340 custom to the fleet this year but will buy ex lease. Having played around with it and talked about it before, it seems that if you want to buy new then you get much better value out of a mid range French van. Ford/Merc/VW all very nice but higher initial cost and then subsequent devaluation. The MK8 transits seem better value new than the Custom, guess really you’re just paying for a bit more steel and empty space , plus the custom is more popular.
I can’t find another mid sized 3.4t van that will take a 3m length without it lying on the floor/under the seats in the way of the side loading door.
Custom no better on fuel than the MK8, but more compact footprint better for service engineer I think.
ExactlyNow there's an oxymoron.
I was going to say the same, @Lancs Lad post above, maxis could be swoped to ford and it would still read the same.I will say there's nothing mentioned above we haven't already experienced with Ford for customer service hence we're considering a change
Yes TBF if you going to get crap service why pay more.I will say there's nothing mentioned above we haven't already experienced with Ford for customer service hence we're considering a change
service is a word that almost all suppliers have forgotten existsYes TBF if you going to get crap service why pay more.
Only reason I tend to stick with VW is got decent relationship with local dealer and I've heard horror stories from both our nearest ford dealers.
Everything's crap these days . How hard is it to provide decent service and sort your mistakes.
Yeah but 1 year warranty and no spares will be very different to Ford …I was going to say the same, @Lancs Lad post above, maxis could be swoped to ford and it would still read the same.
Not much difference in my experience, long waits for parts, and a warranty that's not worth the paper its written onYeah but 1 year warranty and no spares will be very different to Ford …
I have only ever bought used Fords.. and easy to keep on the road. Not sure I would ever buy a new one. Currently looking at a 21 plate Custom with 57000miles and 18.5K+vat. New wet belt and service as part of sale from local garage. Not much difference in my experience, long waits for parts, and a warranty that's not worth the paper its written on![]()
That's transporter money in my book.I have only ever bought used Fords.. and easy to keep on the road. Not sure I would ever buy a new one. Currently looking at a 21 plate Custom with 57000miles and 18.5K+vat. New wet belt and service as part of sale from local garage.
Hi-Top T6.1 is like rocking horse s**t :-( Let alone in silver with the high weight capacity. That's transporter money in my book.
I know what I'd prefer![]()
It seems that modern engines need much higher frequency oil change 5-10 thousand miles is all you're going to get between changes if you want to reduce risk. Stellantis models the same.I reckon the transporters are going to really hold money/go up soon. Lot of agg towards the new one coming which is basically a transit custom re-skinned. Ive got a 2015 custom done 130k miles and been good as gold. Been trying to decide what would want to changed it for and so hard to decide. Have a few subbys who have had alot of issues with the wetbelts, although from my understanding just need to service sooner. I think id like to look at a low roof crafter/tge but they mega money but what decent isnt. We got a new iveco tipper last year, ive only moved it around site haven’t had any time with it yet the old man says the old transit tipper was a better drive. So god knows.
The last 2 large french vans we have bought have been (fingers crossed) perfectly fine.....so far! One 2021 Movano (Rebadged Renault) and one 2024 Movano (Rebadged Peugot). 10/10 would go French again. Just annoying they don't offer much in the medium sized 3t and above Hi roof that will take 3m tubes internally, hence shopping for a Custom. The tie up between ford and VW makes their vans look at the top side of the van market. I suspect the next transit, Crafter, TGE will all be the same van. No guarantee with any van you won't have issues. And last few years service we've had from Ford dealers has made us look at other makes. Just didn't think we'd be looking at the bottom side of the market with Maxus
