T5.1/T6/T6.1 Transporters allready hold their value, and even more so now with the Ford link up on the replacement. The one I had sold for more money than I paid after having it 5 years, there isn’t many vans that you can do that with. The caddy maxi before that didn’t cost me much over 4 years I had that and sold for good money when I decided to get the t5.1. I do like my current TGE but it hasn’t been without some niggles, maybe I’ve just been lucky with the others. IMG_7957.jpegIMG_7956.jpegDespite being mwb low roof it makes a t5 look small! No longer bother with signwriting so can sneak under the radar if needed 😉

I loathe roof racks and pipe tubes. So much better if you can keep pipes and ladders inside. Surprising how much bigger the crafter looks than the t5!

High top transporters are fibreglass panels iirc, and look horrible!

Managing without, can easily get 3m tube in the back along with triple extension. The only thing I struggle with is my rarely used roof crawler, so either have to take the trailer or drop it off with the lwb crafter im slowly converting into a camper.

Yes the Maxus is cheap to purchase. Parts are ridiculously expensive and not always readily available. Slightly different but wanted a clutch and flywheel for an MG. Nothing available from aftermarket due to Chinese property rights and parts not available from china for 6 months minimum.
The wing mirrors are Savage money and no pattern parts unlike the French vans

94k now. I replaced the EGR cooler when I bought it used in 2023 as it was losing coolant, a known fault with them. I suspect it’s failed again as it’s using coolant again but no visual signs of leaking. I replaced 3 glow plugs last year and ones gone down again. The crank seal is slightly leaking, another known issue with them but It’s a sump off job to fix. I’m going to book it for crank seal, full timing belt and waterpump at main dealer at same time and hope they can sort it. Just feels like there’s always something whereas the T5.1 barely needed touching.

Our TGE 70 plate now at 120k.
TBF it's been faultless till last month when it went into limp mode on M40. Managed to limp it back.
Fueling faults
Swapped out fuel filter and flushed and reset ...seems ok.

Trying to decide what if to swap it with.
Had price on sprinter...chunk cheaper but...🙄

Looking for a transit - trend or limited, H2L3 - I want the 170ps engine but they are hard to find!!
would go crafter but cant justify anything over 30k..

We have got the 2.0 170ps on a 66 plate- Lovely drive. Allegedly exactly the same hardware across all 3 power options and just a mapping option. However I have a couple of older 2.2 engines mapped to 185 and they are not nearly as nice to drive as the factory 2.0 170 option.

From the sub10kmiles used ones I’ve seen it’s about £2k more to get a full spec limited 170 with all the cameras/ac etc over a bog standard leader! So no brainer just to buy the full spec one off the shelf!

Just had a test drive of the Maxus, I was a bit apprehensive about them, there's no doubt not as well built as a transit and the tyres are 215 as apposed to the 235 on my transit but it's almost a clone of the transit van, looking at them side by side you'd even think the bonnet from the transit would fit the Maxus. Not quite as refined as the transit by any means but almost £20K saving in purchase is it worth a punt?
We don't do massive miles and the vans sit about most of the time but still need them to get to the job. But will it be any good in 5 years time

I’m off the idea as our garage won’t touch me. To be fair, if a customer of mine bought a Chinese boiler I would be cutting them loose!
Shame we don’t have proper British LDV as a budget option anymore.

If you buy it from a local garage surely they can't cut you loose.
The hope is you don't need to visit the garage for fist three years. It's the same price as a two year old transit with 20k already on the clock, you'll be visiting the garage within a year for the MOT.
Anyone got any horror stories on the Maxus that you wouldn't get with NE other brand.

Sorry I meant our regular garage. No dealers for Maxus round here.
I think you should buy one …. We can watch to see how happy you are over next few years.

How much for a new one? I can get a pre reg delivery miles transit h2l2 boggo for 26k….? At least in 5 years it will be worth half that if not more?
