Just had a test drive of the Maxus, I was a bit apprehensive about them, there's no doubt not as well built as a transit and the tyres are 215 as apposed to the 235 on my transit but it's almost a clone of the transit van, looking at them side by side you'd even think the bonnet from the transit would fit the Maxus. Not quite as refined as the transit by any means but almost £20K saving in purchase is it worth a punt?
We don't do massive miles and the vans sit about most of the time but still need them to get to the job. But will it be any good in 5 years time
Take a look at the service costs of a Maxus before you pull the trigger. Buying it isn’t the expensive bit

Do many have that anymore?
Yes . The TGE180 RWD is 7t gross train weight
Merc sprinters do a tow option on the 316 where they add uprated springs and slightly different ratio in drive train and these are 7t as well .Most utility company’s go for these so you can pick them up used now . The sprinters are the better van for towing as we have both and the adjusted gearing in the 160 sprinter makes it nicer to tow with than the 180 MAN
I’m pretty sure Ford cover 7t now in a RWD version

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
Do you have any independent ford dealers. There is a great one here that i bought from. I get him to do the servicing and stuff too...
used to have one in Aber -- 'til Ford wanted them to spend a small fortune on their showrooms and workshops ... that was the end of their long 'relationship'
's a block of flats now

I’m considering this, checked with dealer and apparently it’s the 3500kg towing spec one.
Infact I just checked directly on dealer website and it says towing capacity is 2800kg… so the rep is talking nonsense as usual! 🤦‍♂️

We once bought a transit 350 RWD from paynes ford but when it arrived it was a FWD 🫣 they did stand good and take it back and we got a RWD after 3 weeks of driving round in it FWD.
