It’s what I do!
Do you have a serial no? I will see what case drain fittings there should be!
where did you get the seals?
I had to order parts off hydraulic plant services in Sussex last time.
it was a hell of a job just getting the part numbers, luckily my brother in law works in research and development at jcb so emailed me the drawings....
Hi people I have just had the same problem with my old 1996 802. The slew motor in the machine has had the bottom part welded together and now it has broken up and mashed the teeth of the drive. £3500.00 for a new one from JCB and a wait until mid August!!! I only bought a JCB thinking they were made in the UK and would be easy to find parts for. Anyone got any advice (apart from buying a Kubota)???
It seems this part is a weak spot on the machines and you would think JCB would keep one in stock and not make people wait until they can have one made to order. This and the up front payment of £3500+ is a bit a a bad taste... The machine is in ok shape for it's age and has maybe been used on a farm not site. rebuilt a ram and fitted some new pins and all was fine the only thing I didn't do was take the floor up to look at the slew motor mounting. Not crying about fitting a new motor but the wait time means I have to now hire a machine and I only bought one to avoid that. Will try Vicary Spares (I may have already will check) thanks for the info. Has anyone got a link to the slew motor as I don't want to order and pay for one that won't fit and waste more time...In all fairness to it it’s an older machine and it sounds like it’s seen some action. And don’t assume any other brand at that age would be without any issues.
Try Vicary Plant Spares for parts, they may well have a secondhand unit? Worth a call.
You can, give a few more views of the motor, it looks like the motor is top, into a reduction box(oil filled) from this view it doesn’t look like it has case drain, cross line relief or shock valves unless it’s external!I believe on the jcb parts website you can search for part numbers from machine serial number etc
I think you are looking at the original post of another slew motor. I wish mine was this good...You can, give a few more views of the motor, it looks like the motor is top, into a reduction box(oil filled) from this view it doesn’t look like it has case drain, cross line relief or shock valves unless it’s external!
Have you tried plant parts at Hadleigh Suffolk?I think you are looking at the original post of another slew motor. I wish mine was this good...
how long have you had it and where did you buy it from ? .... blatant bodgeryAs you can see someone welded the casing up and stuck it together to sell it on.
Try FC spares for parts, does alot of jcb stuffDoes anyone think I could get a machine shop to turn up a steel base & weld and regrind the pinion or am I dreaming?
sounds like a reasonable plan Mick ... as you say, it looks to have not been perfectly perpendicular to its mate face and thus worn the pinion like it has .... presumably by "weld the plate in place" you mean to the g/box body ... some 299,s would do that fine, stitched quietly , but'd need to remove the existing flange or it'd sit cock eyed again ...... 's do-able but would need a shop to do it in ideallyDefinitely bodged, firstly does it leak? looking at what is left, if it were mine I would firstly make sure there is no damage to the ring gear, the motor pinion has all its teeth although damaged, the problem looks like the repair has made the motor work off centre, wearing the teeth more at the top than the bottom, get a base plate made from 10mm plate, drill the holes to match, making sure it’s vertically and horizontally level, weld the plate in place, bolt it back in, the difference would be >10mm of the pinion (the worn part wouldn’t mesh with the ring) a bit of a task but probably cheaper than a motor!
It’s possible to repair but, only if the motor works and doesn’t leak, the remainder of the pinion that is good when cleaned up would work fine.sounds like a reasonable plan Mick ... as you say, it looks to have not been perfectly perpendicular to its mate face and thus worn the pinion like it has .... presumably by "weld the plate in place" you mean to the g/box body ... some 299,s would do that fine, stitched quietly , but'd need to remove the existing flange or it'd sit cock eyed again ......
