Gentlemen how are we keeping? I hope we have all dodged the covid bullet . I've been on the trail of the slew motor since we last discussed it. With everywhere closed things have been delayed and now seals for the hydraulic motor will take 10 weeks . In my quest to get sorted it seems this particulal combination of motor and gearbox is troublesome and JCB changed it, possibly even in 1996. Seals are taking an age to come and I'm not putting another motor into her after what she did with the last one. Maybe it is time to upgrade. As we bought her privately off the local JCB dealer 14 years ago I might see what they'll do me on a trade in. Any thoughts or knowledge on the 8030 models? 2006 onwards?

Case drain often goes through a separate filter to the main hydraulic filter, in some cases they have a small inline filter, if this filter is partially blocked case pressure will be high causing the seal to push out, there’s a chance it’s T’d into the track motors case drain, worn track motors could also cause excessive case pressure in the slew motor.

Same problem with our early 1995 jcb 804

it’s only number 17 made

SOM slew gearbox totally s**t itself in march

couldn’t get parts, got it fixed by an engineering company

2 months later it’s just started dripping again

Yes
It’s a hell of a long dipper

digger is actually too big for what I need

looking for a 2 tonne digger and sell this one next year, but there is nothing about...
Oh man 🙈 I've waited 10 weeks for seals for the hydraulic motor, which the company "thinks" are the correct ones. Zero help from our local JCB dealer. Quoted the cost of the seals but not in stock with them or with JCB. Asked him what my options are then and he didn't reply. Asked him if any second hand machines in stock and salesman rang me that evening! Going to rip it out again. Dismantle motor nd gearbox and replace all seals. Check case drain and pressure test it. If it goes after that I'll be on the lookout for semtex🙈!!!

where did you get the seals?

I had to order parts off hydraulic plant services in Sussex last time.

it was a hell of a job just getting the part numbers, luckily my brother in law works in research and development at jcb so emailed me the drawings....

I've used 777parts.net to get parts numbers and drawings. Pay like $10 for 24hoirs access where you can print off and save drawings. From there I go to urparts (Google) and you put in make, model, part description and number and serial number. Suppliers from across Europe come back with quotations if they have the part. I bought a motor from White House Products in 2017 and got seals from them then. Our JCB dealer was near €1000 for the motor and it had already s**t itself. A vicious circle 🙈

Had this 8026 on loan from a local contractor yesterday to get some muck out. Cab is tight for room but a lovely machine to drive. Found her more engaging than a Terex I had a couple of weeks ago. Seriously spacious and comfortable cab in the Terex but the feeling just wasn't there with the controls. This machine on the other hand was fantastic. Only major issue... RUST!! My god JCB wouldn't paint a picture not to mind a machine. Paint pealing off the cab all over and brackets for the lights are rotten. Even the lower rollers on the window are rusted off so you can't open the the window 🙈
