I think the flat face couplers i get from local hyd place are Stuuchi. Out of interest when you replace couplers you are replacing as pairs (both male and female on same line).

I guess they are 45, on the bottom and like regular slate on the top

Used to be a lot of old houses up here with roofs done like that, was done as less flat area unsecured for wind to get under and lift them

Might appear it in the photo but its a bit frowned on now ... its not natural slate but a fibro cément - they are square and hung on hooks from close boarding, they were à cheaper alternative to natural slates, when the breton slates quarries ceased production or become too expensive they started using these.
I have a couple of buildings roofed in same material, nowadays it's all done with Spanish slate other than heritage stuff.

Yes x100. It’s all about quick repeated cycles. I piled up a load then got on with ripping out the stumps whilst the Sherpa driver self loaded, ran it up the ramps and out of the garden and made a first class pile on the boards with minimal overspill. Both him and me were flat out, neither having to wait for the other. A tracked loader would be too slow, would rip the slabs up when turning (dodgy patio) and shake the operator to bits. I can’t see the point in them for domestic jobs like this.

not half. Those trees plus stumps and dig out was £2800 plus vat. Two days two men, £2100 plus vat left after wages, grab lorry and fuel. She does like a drink though- 15 litres a day if you’re pushing it hard.

Finished this job yesterday started on Monday mulching up the shrubs and bamboo cleaned it up and removed some drive to put back to grass with 5 loads of screened soil to top dress the ground for seed

What make is that ripper tooth- looks like a BMC one. Do you think there's much merit to the RSL rippers that have the serated blade on the rear to get through roots?
