Masks are like a DPF for your face. You need one to go into low emissions zones
If they were really the answer they would insist on a standard of mask to be worn (FFP2/3) not some old pyjamas that your nan has recycled into a funky coloured face covering. The gaps round the edges let 90% of your breath out without being filtered in any way. And whilst it captures your spit/ snot sneezes, its not like you would wear one whilst cutting concrete to protect yourself from silica dust - so why would they stop a microscopic virus!
