So what we putting prices up to then? I always try to base my prices on hard digging then aim to do as little as possible for maximum profit. Hence I don't mind a bit of shovelling when on hire - its very profitable plant hire! Anyway, using the rough 60p/litre figure for cherry and £1.13 plus vat for white (£1.35 inc vat pump price);
A 3t machine uses 25l/day hard digging - £15 in cherry+vat £28.25 in white+vat. So a rise of £13.25 in cost to us.
An 8t uses 40l/day - £24 in cherry, £45.20 in white. £21.20 increase.
God knows what a bigger machine uses but my guess is they wont put prices up as they love losing money on the big machines as long as they look cool.

For me personally with my machines, its only a £13 increase in cost but I'm thinking its justifiable to put £20 on the rate and blame it on white?

Everything else is going up...it's all over the news...folk who kick off about the any increases are in cloud cuckoo land...I think the public are going to get some surprises. Leccy costs are climbing and now the one of the French interconnectors is fkked ...

I'm not saying I'm not going to put my prices up - I am! I'm just considering where my 2022 price list should be pitched and wondered what the rest of you were thinking. Makes for better conversation than arguing about how s**t the situation is

60 quid a day for duck or case 130 will cover me working hard so a bonus when I can conserve fuel . The mini 20 a day seems fair. enough . That’s so long as my customers don’t abandon me for the local farmers subsidised kobelcos . If that happens the gloves will be off and I will be a horticulturist.

My normal supplier was unable to give me a quote. Delivery booked for next week. See what it comes in at along with heating oil to 3 neighbours. He said our local depot is staring to run low as Hoyer are not refilling heating oil at the moment as everyone on fuel
