First year the card was half price. They can be 5ppl or more cheaper than the local pump prices so only have to fill up 6 times a year to cover the card charge (if my maths are correct 🤣)
but not so at 24 quid a year

I just try to fill up at Costco, usually a fair Chuck cheaper - some times 10ppl. Luckily lately I’ve been off so not driving anywhere and not needing to get mixed up in this fuel nonsense!

My normal supplier was unable to give me a quote. Delivery booked for next week. See what it comes in at along with heating oil to 3 neighbours. He said our local depot is staring to run low as Hoyer are not refilling heating oil at the moment as everyone on fuel
It has arrived today.
70.95p red
54.95 heating

with your level of usage Matt, that £24 a year'd not really save you a lot, if anything , particularly if you're selective about where you're buying from

I've got a UK fuels card I did a month of local jobs and didn't use a tank they were soon on the phone offering money off.

When I got the card about 6 months ago it was saving me 10ppl on the pump price locally 90L in the van twice and the card had paid for itself

well you could use it for heating, but not propulsion, in territorial waters or inland waterways/lakes/etc..

came in in the late '90s, IIRC - or could've been early noughties ... all canal/inland waterway boats're allowed to use red for heating/electrical generation only .. propulsion had to be white ... caused all sorts of paperwork for me as an RDCO registered seller ... signed statements from buyers to that effect and invoices marked as non-propulsive fuel  ... I didn't give a flying **** what they did with it, once out of my gates .. as long as the paperwork was in order ;)

ON EDIT
just read it and see what you mean Aiden ...... it's obviously changed YET again  ..... except in paddyland :unsure:o_O

that's a bloody minefield --

" You cannot use rebated fuel to power other machines or equipment used on a railway, such as cooling or heating units in railway freight wagons."

schools and colleges/uni,s are gonna have to use white in their heating
"You cannot use rebated fuel where premises are being used for the purpose of making a profit, for example a school or hospital that charges fees, as the premises would be used for commercial purposes. " ... and yet a golf club is exempt o_Oo_O

pass the buck time ...
", your responsibility as an RDCO is not changing. You will still need to take all necessary precautions to ensure that you supply rebated fuel only to people who will use it as permitted. You need to familiarise yourself with the changes and establish which customers will be affected. You also need to take care not to supply more rebated fuel than a customer no longer allowed to use it may realistically use before the rules change "
FFS:mad: ... can see all 'forecourt' sales vanishing  ... one local to us doesn't comply ATM, or even give a toss about who has what

and this'll cramp a few 'farmer-boy' groundworker's style :giggle::giggle:

"A vehicle, machine or appliance used for both allowed and non-allowed purposes
You must not put rebated fuel in a vehicle, machine or appliance for a use no longer allowed after the rules change. If you use a vehicle, machine or appliance which is used for both allowed and non-allowed purposes after the rules change, you will need to make a decision on how you manage the fuel in these vehicles, machines and appliances after 1 April 2022. You must either flush out the tank to remove all traces of rebated fuel when switching uses or use fully duty-paid diesel/biofuels for everything. This approach is required to ensure compliance and avoid the misuse of rebatedfuel. " :giggle:

and this'll be some PITFA .....
"If you have any surplus rebated fuel in your storage tanks after 31 March 2022, you will need to:
• sell or give it to someone who is allowed to use it
• sell or give it to any Registered Dealer in Controlled Oil (RDCO)
• dispose of it via an approved waste oil recycling or disposal company
You will need to keep a record of how and when the fuel was disposed of, or who it was sold to and when. You can sell or otherwise dispose of the surplus fuel as above without needing to be approved by HMRC as an RDCO. "

bored now !!
