Think my blade stops a inch or 2 short
put a 2" block under it Dylan ..... that'll sort any lack of splitter travel .... sod wrenching 'em apart with yer fingers .... 's how you get hurt or lose a nailThink my blade stops a inch or 2 short
The thing don't like is they are usually doing 2-300 rpm and when they snatch there isn't much u can do
Also heard a few stories of people pushing the log onto the screw with either hand or foot the log splitting and the limb doing the pushing being impaled with no e stop in reach
when you upgrading the multi one and selling that one to me hahaWas using mine today, its only got a small ram but it never failed on any of the big stuff I put through it

There are definitely certain logs they don’t deal with very well.We had a screw splitter on the farm i worked on in the 1980's. It was ok but if it was willow or any other soft wooly wood it was useless. It just drilled a hole in it
I was going to post something similar.I’ve split many tonnes of rings with a 3pl mounted Hycrack cone splitter on a Ford 3000. They are safe as houses as long as you are sensible and use them properly. Keep plenty of the log to the right (it turns clockwise, so subsequently forces than side of the timber down into the table - if used correctly it is impossible for it to spin the log) and only present the timber as a flat ring (ie with the grain vertical). And don’t put your fingers under it!
You’d do well to get it to drill into you - anyone who could achieve such a feat definitely wouldn’t be safe with any tool that converts timber into a smaller product howsoever powered)....
I`ve never had one fly off a screw splitter, a knotty gnarly piece on a hydraulic one, on the other hand.... your comment would be perfectly true.yeh when they burst there's no telling where's safe to be stood

" A new effective way to get rid of costly stumps! 20 seconds / stump!
This is a rational way for companies that handle a lot of stumps (1000+)
The stubble planer drills through the stump and their roots and pushes all remnants into the ground. In this way, further handling at the felling site after the work has been carried out or transporting away stumps is avoided.
