It might have helped!! Sold the manitou last year and put some of that into the Kobelco. The Kobelco has been fab but I am not keen on the block grab that we have been using and with some of the projects we have coming up the chance to add this almost as a dedicated materials handler seemed a good move. I am lucky that I am not the primary family earner so able to pile the money back into adding more kit.
Don’t know what next year will bring so having some more flexibility that hasn’t broke the bank will hopefully keep me and the nephew busy enough!!

Money in older quality kit like that is as good as money in the bank for a rainy day as far as I'm concerned. (y)I kept my old forklift as a spare as I don't need £2k that bad- and it's there if I'm desperate.

totally agree ... older stuff, in decent condition are appreciating assets IMHDO, ATM ... there's a level at which they stop depreciating and start to gain again

Are we talking 1970s forklifts @V8Druid lol
as said ... all down to condition ... if it's decent and simple, it has a better value than a black box infested tool, that'll cost loads to fix, if faulty.

Kind of the reason I keep my 15 year old van on the road. I don't do mega miles and unlikely to get any electrical gremlins so I stick with it

Yep - when I look at the shite on the new stuff makes me want to keep the old simple kit going

No neccessarily yet, but I bet you wish you had a 1970s Range Rover or Roadless in the shed!
yeh well ... I had one and regret selling it ... one owner from new and a massive history ...... and that was a POP to keep 'fettled'
