He's the surgeon fella who's been following up on last year's 'episode' and who discharged me earlier this year ..
Probably wants to tell me - " I told you so "
he's gonna wanna take me gall bladder out
didn't expect to be facing this quandary again so soon

Well Mr Shetty was in fine form this afternoon ...
looked at me and said he'd booked me in for 6 weeks time to give me a chance to recover - what was I doing there?? ...
told him I reckoned he'd had me in quick so's he could tell me " I told you so " made him laugh
Said Dawn had rung me this morning and booked me in a cancellation slot
Couldn't believe how well i'd recovered from an attack on Sunday and been discharged Wed.s afternoon
Asked him for some Omeprazol to combat the acid gut and slight reflux I'm still getting, which he was happy to oblige with and said he'd see me in 4-6 weeks after I'd had a chance at a full recovery to decide what to do next.
He'd had a conversation with Dr Randsford, who'd done the two failed ERCPs last October. He'd said he'd have another go - if pushed - but didn't hold up a lot of hope after last years efforts.
so looks like that's not gonna be an option they'll be pursuing
long conflab about the pros and cons of gall bladder removal, after effects and life without one and hoped I'd maybe go for it with some time to consider it all
confirmed yon stone is still where it was last year - might've jiggled and caused the Pancreatitis Sunday, or could've been a.n.other escaping and getting trapped by that one ????
If I opt to have it out, they'd stand a good chance of getting that one at the same time .... but no guarantees of not having Pancreatitis ever again
he's such a nice guy - tells it straight - got 4 - 6 weeks to mull it over - AGAIN!! -
odds're getting shorter

Given your health condition , what’s the down side of having it removed ? Could it set you back at all ?
I’m asking as I had mine out and immediately resolved all the trapped stone issues and hasn’t been a problem . Only change was I now shite morning and evening instead of just the evening and I think that’s because without the gall bladder you secrete all the time rather than when you eat .

this is the dilemma Vin.
yer gall bladder controls the flow of bile to your gut after you've eaten ... without it you have a constant 'weep' instead of when it's needed.
worst case is almost constant diarrhoea but controllable (to a degree) with drugs - otherwise your digestive system slows down and your diet has/needs to be monitored carefully.
Gaucher's disease is a 'contributor' to/has an effect on, the production of gall stones and no one can say what the effect of not having the gall bladder in place will have?
and they can't put it back

How frequent are you getting ill with the stones and how bearable is it ?
My diet hasn’t changed . I had yearly doc check yesterday and they checked my weight I’m I’m still the same size fat bastard I was when I got it done and that’s 3 years ago now so my metabolism hasn’t shifted .

The docs do not want any inflammation of infection at the time of removal of gaul bladder ,operating when inflamed or infected leads to greater risk for the patient

So you’d be a bit of an experiment for them .
How frequent are you getting ill with the stones and how bearable is it ?
My diet hasn’t changed . I had yearly doc check yesterday and they checked my weight I’m I’m still the same size fat bastard I was when I got it done and that’s 3 years ago now so my metabolism hasn’t shifted .

9 years between 1st and second incidence Vin ... 6 between 2nd and 3rd last July and now was 14 months after #3 .... last July's left a stone in my pancreatic duct that they tried to remove with two ERCP procedures ( Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) unsuccessfully as the duct was still too inflamed after three months.
as for the pain level - shoot me now - I have a good pain threshold, but !!!! - it goes on for hours, many hours ... without I.V. morphine it is unreal -- had 5 hrs of it Sunday night - throwing up for 2-3 of them - I should've called Pam's daughter at the onset to take me to hospital but reluctant at half one/two in the morning
couple of mates have since said WTF didn't you call me .. but as above .. bit late to go ringing folks .. they would've turned out for me as I would and have for them, but just wasn't thinking straight

and yeh -- think I would be " a bit of an experiment " ..
I'm a rare animal
when diagnosed I was #15 in Wales, 200 in the UK and one of only 5,000 in the world with the disease, out of 7+ billion ppl.

bang on ... 's why they waited 3 months last year to try the ERCP which carries enough risks of its own, let alone a second one a couple of weeks later
it's the reason Dr Ransford is reluctant to even think about a third try ... it'd have to wait some time - and still high risk / low chances of success .... he's their top guy and doesn't often do the procedure, due to the risk level

We seem to get real close to op day and boom off it goes again
The boy is quite down about it
