We have just driven 860 miles to Austria. Left home with a full tank and filled up one other time. Did stop for a break to find it rather hard to get parked…..as these where blocking spaces queuing for a charger….
what're you driving?

Speaking to a Toyota salesman yesterday and enquiring about a new hilux,I'm told the current 2.8 hybrid invincible x is currently being run out making way for a new model in June July.the new invincible x looks hideous but will be only available as a full electric only truck.he pretty much said they did not expect to sell any as people will not buy them.id love a new gr hilux but mega expensive and only option if I want a new invincible x id to be ordering pretty quick.contrary to what I've heard and thought these trucks are still selling very well.unfortunately road tax after first year is close to £700 and economy is worse than my current truck.there are some very good deals about and I can get 19% of list which makes new a better option than second hand nearly new.if anyone is looking it's time to pull your fingers out.

Wouldn't it still be commercial road tax so under £400?

Correct afaik VED doesn't alter with the next tax change so still 345

But yes I'd expect new crew cab pickups to disappear from communist UK before too long.
I mean we can't have nasty dirty builders and groundworkers driving round in nice pickups can we. We all know we should be driving chineses electric shoeboxes like good comrades.

Just had a look at the new Hilux, didn't look too bad in the first pic I seen with low lighting but in better lighting with all lines shown it's a bit to be desired but might grow looks wise. From the bit I read the hybrid will still be available as the electric version is completely useless as a vehicle let alone if you want to work it. Why would anyone design an EV pickup then give it a 59kwh battery, 190 bhp max range of 150 miles, 715kg payload and a towing capacity of 1.6t

They have changed the seat in the current invincible X and I cannot get comfy in them. Plus they have all the stupid lane assist you can no longer turn off. I was offered one of the current hybrid hiluxs as a work truck but have kept my older one and the hybrids are pool trucks. They are supposedly identical but just don't seem right to me. Plus the hybrid has worse fuel consumption and worse acceleration than the standard 2.8.

I can’t get comfortable in our old (2022) Hilux - there is a stupid footrest for your left foot that ends up making my knee ache. My wife uses it and doesn’t mind it - I much prefer driving my van though.

Any long journeys I solely do on the cruise control so pedals don't bother me but where I'm tall I have always driven with my elbow on the top of the door/ bottom of the window and it's not very well padded so not very comfy.
It might be romantic memories but Im sure nothing will beat a MK2 ford ranger.

I love my hilux, still can't knock any of them I've had, and that's many.

Although my d4 is now the vehicle I use daily. There's a reason why there is so many of them about..I suppose.

I dare say if I'd have to choose a brand new pickup today, I don't think it would be a hilux anymore.

Interesting....I'd have said hilux still top of the charts for reliability? My current amarok/ranger clone scares me...any weird noise and I'm expecting terminal failure 😂😂 dunno fords always fill me with dread .

I've currently got my eyes in the new land cruiser seen a few I think they look mint 🤣🤣 cars I hate em.

It's still up there but I think isuzu now out ranks them.

Talking to a fella today, 75 plate ranger, he's done 25k on it now. Says he prefers over the old one because it's more car like. Spose that's great when your swapping them regularly....it's us who gets them a few years old that truly get to find out the longevity of them.

I'd like to upgrade my d4, but if I do it would be to an older land cruiser amazon. I don't think I'd be able to justify the v8 d4d.

I'll be keeping my lux, I know it'll not let me down when I need it the most....but just not the comfort or power we now expect.

A local council has bought a Munro, tows 3500kg apparently, but for how long? https://www.munro-ev.com/ getting on 90k with options 😲
Have they even got use for it? It's crazy money but 110 commercial defenders start at 64k.
Looking more into the muro they are based on the ibex 4x4 which apparently uses/used a lot of original defender parts, the mileage isn't great on the munro but it's essentially as stripped back as the original defender just with a touchscreen. They seem to reckon on a 30 year lifespan on the vehicle, relying on replacement modular batteries/motors. 5 year/100k on the vehicle and 8 year/100k on the battery

The new ranger reeks of cost cutting, crappy wet belt engine is no longer available later this year and all of them have issues with rear pads, mixture of electric handbrake, adaptive cruise and auto hold means people have been going threw a set of inner pads before 20k.
I only use speed limiter and very rarely use the handbrake, the only times I ever do is when I need to hook up to the trailer and the damn pickup rolls forward once you put it in park.

Quite an interesting looking thing, lots of old defender parts in there!

But why the hell are councils buying things like that??
Surely they should be buying base spec vehicles from manufacturers/dealers that can supply the whole range- tippers, flatbeds, vans of whatever sizes, tow vehicles etc to get some bulk buying power!! Maybe a few electric runarounds if they really have to, but not 80k pick up thingys from a company that does nothing else ffs 🤦🏻🤦🏻
Spending other peoples money to look green....🤬
