any way bike season's as good as over and didn't get my leg over one again this year

got this set up this morning and got the Caddy out to stick it together

and whilst I let that cool quietly I put the finish cut to the nut, I had to leave last night

then slotted the tee nut and post in to clean off the weld and underside

cleaned up real nice and fitted like a glove ................................................................................................................................. next on - centring washer ........then

me new QC tool post ...............................................................................................................................................................................hardened thrust washer

and to see the reason it's so tall I need more pix ...... and I'm out again

Original nut on the Harrison is quite squat and doesn't need much height to clear the tool holding bolt heads ................................... marked up the position I need to machine in the handle on the nut

with the quick change tool holders in place on the post the nut needs height to clear the additional height of the adjusters which set the height of the tools in relation to the workpiece centre height

once set you can take the tools on/off rapidly without having to adjust/shim their height each time you change a tool (which can be often )

can also shim the tools in the tool clamps, subject to tooling sizes -- but once set and the height adjustment screws on the carriers are set - it's just a case of dropping one on and clamping it with the camlock and with 3 stations can also carry 3 tools and simply rotate the post ...... can do similar with the original four square post but still have to shim each tool's tip height (and they all vary to a degree)

QC post is so easy to use once set -- (and yer can never have enough tool carriers - been chasing a guy in Zooport for weeks with 3 for sale at a very cheap price and cannot get him to respond again ) this size post (T3) doesn't come up very often and was lucky to find this one at a third of new price, new in the wrappings -- been keeping my eye out since I bought the Harrison
so --- back off and bang the four square back on for now -- got a lever handle to make yet
putting the four square back on this afters I noticed that this has never been right and explains a few things -- it's detented to 90/45 to the workpiece on all four ways - but this is a mil or so out on the 90 (and hence the 45,s too) bet it's caused a few headaches over the years - wonder if Harrison's warranty is out yet -- will have it apart, to investigate, but the detents are machined in from new - 's a complex tool post - have had it to bits before and the tolerances in it are zero, so has to be a manufacturer error -- bloody annoying, but not insurmountable -- if it gets used again - now that I know!!

anyway .... post stashed away for today - four square back (sort of) in position and had to set up the nut in the Ajax to machine in a handle socket ...
firstly check the machine for level (or a datum) ....

then use said level/datum to set up the face to be machined square to

on the nail - doesn't look quite right in the previous one - but it was

at this point in the day -- I need to mow the bloody grass, as it's dried nicely (had rain overnight and been drying all day) - and I have an hour 'fore tea ..... so this gets left for today and the green stuff massacred - been growing like hell

can't believe how much came out the collector when I emptied it

Saturday was a mixed day .... nearly lost the Dane down a bank -- ground although dry on top of the grass was 'KIN slick under it and we were off side ways .. even the herring bones couldn't cope ..
ended up facing down hill and she would not reverse back out .. locked the park brake, went and found a 20mm rope and the Kia and got Pam to drag me backwards, back up/across the bank

no amount of reverse was gonna get me back out with all the weight downhill

Posty brought me a few goodies later on - cheapo pair of these ........

(got a heavier duty set, but liked the way these fold up), amongst some steel paint marker pens (my last one died this week), some fine tip paint markers, and a set of step drills, that lots of ppl seem to use these days - never tried one so thought I'd give some a try ........ and a letter from Herford General with an appointment date for the 1st Oct. for a.n.other ERCP - take two Not really looking forward to that, knowing what's coming!

most of yesterday got consumed by a major hit on town and a hamster juice session - wasn't much of the day left after that all got did.

the view from the bathroom Velux this morning ......

beautiful morning - aside from the 17 vapour trails I counted that were still 'hanging' .. God knows how many I'd not seen earlier as they generally kick off around 06.00 - this was 09.30 !! ..... crazy number of flights and bear in mind that these'll only hang for about 20 minutes or so ... there're several N/South,s that have dispersed there too

Adam from L&S was still trying to find me the spring for the Husqy strimmer and asked me to send him some more pix - so had to strip that down again yesterday to get him what he wanted .... blow by blow of how it goes together

was worth the effort - he got back to me this morning with a virtually identical spring from a different model of Husqy - just gonna have to shorten the spigots a bit apparently might arrive tomorrow

Thought I'd better put some cherry in the genny today ... down to under a 1/4 tank and didn't want to run it out ... 200 ltrs has her belly full again .. couldn't be ar*ed to get a pump out, so strung the drum up on the Drema's hook and dug out my dispensing nozzle

the drum trolley was 20 quid well spent a while ago - came from just up the road from @bobthebuilder 's manor - brilliant for moving 205 drums about -- as is the 'Drema

there's currently some idiot a field away running a forage harvester full chat - 23.30 is taking the p*ss - can hear it here in my office - not like there's any rain forecast 'til Friday FFS

yeh yeh .. not the most melodious of beasts at 01.30 in the morning, when you're trying to get to sleep and have to be up at 5.45 this morning ... and there wasn't a cloud in the sky at that time -- no rain forecast for days - Friday's the next damp day
Still clear night and it carried for miles - let alone the next field
I'm usually pretty tolerant of it all, living where we do, but this was taking the pi** -- didn't start 'til it was dark gone

He was probably on another field till dark! Mate of mine is on harvesting. He doesn't get much sleep at this time of year. Fair task to convert machine from Grass to Maize as well. Most farmers dont run their own harvesters.. so its contractors more likely. Running around trying to keep everyone happy. Used to it round here as we grow more grass and maize here than most other parts of the country. Also the wagons pass on the road about 20m from my bedroom window... banging when empty, and engines roaring when dragging full loads up hill through the village.

On a cheerier note.. see how you get on with step drills. We use them quite a bit for boiler casings and suchlike. Used to use cheaper ones, then bought a set of Red ones which were £££ but still going strong and worth the money.

Funny enough I had a 4 to 32mm in a basket yesterday but everytime I went to pay it kept mucking me about. Drillbitsuk or similar was £9ish for the step bit

only a cheapo Temu set ... 'Sposed to be HSS - give em a try -- I wanted the paint marker pens and needed summat to make up the free shipping figure -- TBH what I have had from them, hasn't been bad stuff .. not front line gear, but fine for the sort of intermittent usage it'll get here
this was an utter bargain .. and VERY nicely made - works a treat

as was this - used it several times already - half of what you'd pay on fleabay (probably for the same item) -- got a few 3MTs that cost me a hell of a lot more than that - but are too big for the Meddings

and this runs beautifully - doubt I'll ever wear it out -- just need to be selective with their stuff

I'm yet to try my latest engine - about the same price, looks pretty similar until you notice it's missing a carb.
Mine's diesel (with no decomp) - will be interesting to see how long the rope lasts !

let's hope he gets it finished a bit earlier tonight - got another 05.45 start again tomorrow for an ERCP - take two in Hereford, tomorrow at 08.00 -
took us an hour an' a half almost to get there last week - bloody roads're dug up everywhere ..
was utter chaos there last Thursday when two sets of lights went wrong and some ppl were queueing for two hours just to get into Hereford apart from cross the town
so early start from Chez Druid at half six to hopefully be there at 07.45
