Wish I was half as good on a lathe as you are bloody hell. best I can do is make a mess
gonna have to have the Harrison's cross slide apart again sometime - it has 'sticky spots' and it's heart in mouth when it does it  - 'specially if you're trying to get a finish/final cut :mad: or trying to turn a counterbore with a less than 1mm wall thickness like i was yesterday :oops:

........ In The Heath for a 09.30 appointment with my Lysosomal storage specialists tomorrow, for a grilling (for them) ........
early start - out of here by 7.45 - Pam says " why so early "
" You've not seen the traffic !! "

Some idiot'd run into the overhanging load of steel, on the back of a 7.5t by Rougemont school on the Malpas road, causing utter chaos and a very s/hand looking motor - no screen and the passenger seat weren't looking too good either :ROFLMAO: .. then the M4 was no better - Off at the A48(M), Western Avenue, for Caeeerdiff .. and was utter carnage - solid 'til the East Caeeerdiff exit ... one exit before The Heath's exit ... clear as a bell for the last mile an' a half ..... 's only 40 miles total and I was 10 minutes late for the 9.30 appointment
They certainly gave me 'the treatment' this morning - could've been summat to do with the " I, rightly or wrongly, assumed that as I'm a relatively 'trouble free' Gaucher's sufferer, I've gotten 'put on the back burner' LOL " comment in my last email ... got me an appointment date in about 2hrs flat on the 3rd Sept. :giggle: - hadn't seen them since Aug '23  having had several appointments cancelled :(
they've got no one who's had their gall bladder out 'on their books' and couldn't really answer my Q.s about what happens to the calcitic crud that Gaucher's usually tends to produce and chuck into it, creating stones, eventually  - could well understand my hesitance when I'm told that losing it will still only give a 50/50 chance of not getting pancreatitis again, without it - combine that with the associated risks of the op. and it putting me back in a ward with the P word .. and the after effects of living without it - I'm on an even taller fence than I was before :unsure:o_O

Stretched the Kia's legs on the way home - out of there 10.40 .. in Aldi's car park in Aber, by 11.30, to pick up a few things - more like it for a journey time, given the further chaos on Malpas road, as they'd decided to cone off the outer lane in both directions - to cut the grass on the central res. (such as it is for most of the length) - in pissing rain :mad: WTF plans these activities FFS ????????

bed time now I think :giggle:

hour, fifty five minutes for a 40 mile trip for me :( -- Western Avenue needs bollarding down the white line ... left lane for the three junctions and right lane for straight through traffic for the centre, Llandaff and The Heath .. Ambulances have got zero chance of a morning
at a quieter time of day I can do the trip in 45 leisurely minutes

All of South East Wales roads are a complete s**t show, queued from just after 2nd Severn crossing earlier all the way through to zooport. These arseholes in Cardiff bay need ousting as they have made an already poor country a complete shambles

oh Jeezus .. that's horrendous - how long did that take. ???
's why I never come down the 449 to the Caldra for Caeeerdiff ... the short stretch of M4 from there to Malpas is dire of a morning - Caerleon turning is just grid lock and then you get the tunnels :oops:

would it be be worth trying the M48 and old Chepstow/Langstone/Newport road to the Caldra - couldn't be any worse than that - Wye Valley Link road up from the old bridge can be a bit of a bar steward, but is usually moving

As I came out of Cardiff on the A48 this evening, the inbound was static cos there was a shunt - looked like someone had gone into the back of someone with some force

Come to think of it @V8Druid we were probably sat in the same queue on the A48 on Thursday morning lol
almost certainly -- worst I've seen it in a while - but not been down to the Heath for two years  ---- and have no other reason (or desire) to go there (Caeeerdiff) otherwise  -- it's a hole

I was back for more today. 7am start and into Bristol to get a van load of parts and then off to Cardiff via Newport. Got to Cardiff, boss goes "can you take it to Swansea?". Off I go, didn't get back to Cardiff till 1ish to try and start my work for the day. Left at 18:30 in the end, back via Newport (dropped the van off, picked my car up) and then home around 19:40 after cross loading some boxes.

Tis weird going from driving a diesel van up high and into the silky smooth low down EV!

before the A48(M) the Old Cardiff road from Tredegar Park, Cleppa Park, through Castleton & St. Mellons was 'the route' 4 lanes and no central res. ... back then was part of Monmouthshire and on the old man's beat, regularly --
there was always a minimum of one fatal a week on there - usually a lot more - was a wicked road for 'head on,s'
