Best way to remove footing?

i would think just a strip found so may not be to bad to break out just back fill the area you need to start on and so no straddling trenches and break out and dig down to the new level as you go if the first builder was too tight to dig to correct (minimum 1 m deep subject to building control )in the first place the concrete may not be the best any way

I was chatting to an inspector once who looked at a dig, signed it off and left. Realised he’d forgotten something so popped back and found them mixing up ballast and cement in the trenches. Made them bucket it all out and stayed there all day whilst they did it properly

Presume the found is reinforced? 800 is a deep ol foundation so think you will need a bigger machine. You can be a s careful as you can but taking that lot out the trench is going to be a lot wider im afraid

Be a third pin position on the headstock to suit both machines....

Just FYI Dr Pecker (attachment Solutions Ltd) are the only firm (whose product I have broken) that have without quibble stood by and rectified the issue! Never had it before and likely never will again. But they are spot on!

If there's a lot of steel in the concrete I'd be having second thoughts. You won't get anything but tennis ball sized bits of concrete off it if it's well reinforced, and it will take ages and cost more than you think. Not to mention wear and tear and the moil jammed in the steel.

They ripped out a load of footings on a local school that's being re built. I didn't see them do it but they had a couple diggers minimum 20 tonne. Bloody great 3 meter long bits on the pile.

Aparently this footing crumbled after being hit with a sledgehammer. No rebar either.

Fingers crossed the ripper will handle most of it after the pecker makes a way in. It's day rate anyway. It's only 9m total.

I got a mate totaled a 9" wall too ..... bout 50 feet of it ...... with a yammy RD400 and walked away from it

Joking aside there are several low explosive products on the market that are great at breaking stuff like this up without vibration or ‘fly rock’ . Not a lot of cop in heavily reinforced concrete though. 600 wide, 800 deep by 9m long would all be out I a day.

That’s similar stuff to the name I posted but the one you linked to is twice the price because it auto stems. That means you don’t need to back fill the shot hole with a bit of damp sand tamped in place before you press the bang button.

At about 10 quid extra a cartridge I know which I prefer.
