a lot cheaper than I was expecting

In the interest of providing the best possible service, I am more than happy to increase the price just for you if that would make you feel better :p

Although in all seriousness, the Spectra CR600 and CR700 are just the beginning of what is an expensive category of products.

The full range can be seen here:

This is also quite a useful table to figure out which is right for you:

Would the CR600 be suitable to swap between a backhoe, mini excavator and a larger excavator? Probably max size of 13-15 tonne machine.

The CR600 would be fine on a backhoe and on a mini excavator. When you jump up to the 13-15 tonne machine you may just want to quickly increase the brightness setting on the LED's to "bright" which will give better visibility because you will be further away from it in the cab. The CR600 although appears very bright, is set to "dim" by default. You just need to change it to "bright" and this will help.

I hope this helps.

Evening Mark,
What sort of quality are your 5m staffs, I've had a few before of Survey Express but find the buttons to hold the sections out fall apart at the earliest opportunity, as it has today, I'm pissed of with trying to repair them, yours are more expensive as I've been paying around Ā£35/40 for them, but are they any good?

Cheers, Andy.

Hi Andy,
The TLS3 (2.4m) and the TLS4 (4m) staff are rock solid and we literally buy them by the shipping container load and are sold with all of our kits.
Due to oversize shipping restrictions (i.e DPD donā€™t like products longer than a meter collapsed because they donā€™t go down their conveyor belts) we only buy a tiny qty of the 5m staffs from another supplier for the infrequent occasions customers require them. As such they havenā€™t had the ā€œstickā€ in the field that the other models have.
Although we honestly havenā€™t had any reports of issues with the 5mā€™s we carry, we ship so few of them that I would hate for you to have a problem especially after you had issues with the S.E versions. If it was the 2.4m or 4m in question it would be a different story.
The increase in price is a simply down to the DPD oversize shipping surcharge.

Just being honest - I hope this helps.

Best regards

Hi,
If ordered by 3:45pm each working day, most locations are on a next working day service by DPD. However I believe Stonehaven may be on a two day service.
Therefore if you ordered between now and 3:45pm on Monday we would check, calibrate (where applicable) and prepare and the latest you would have it by is Wednesday. The order is tracked to your door and they give you a one hour delivery window.

Which product were you interested in?

I was looking at these two. Is there much difference between them? The specs look similar to me but I may be missing something.

the 203 has dual grade ,longer range, rechargeable battery ,better waterproof rating

The FRE-203XR is the top of the mid range lasers (excluding True Grade models) where as the HV101 sits at the beginning of the Premium brand range.

Essentially with the FRE-203XR you get a longer range, it's fully rechargeable (also includes a spare alkaline battery pack), dual grade using either the keypad or the included remote control, slightly better accuracy and generally a more durable laser.

Fukuda FRE-203XR:

The Spectra HV101 is powered by alkaline batteries giving 50 hours runtime, a slightly shorter range and accuracy is slightly less. You can single grade via the keypad but would require the optional remote control to control the laser at distance or to do dual grade.

Spectra HV101:

Both lasers have the same warranty period and are equally well supported directly by us and their respective manufacturers.

On paper the 203 is a no brainer, and the Spectra is just hoping to sell on account of the name. A bit like Stanley tools.

Spectra use very good components and have incredibly good build quality. A number of years ago they were perceived as being fairly expensive in the marketplace in comparison with other competing brands and to counter this but not compromise on quality they launched the LL100 (horizontal only) and HV101 (horizontal, vertical and squaring) series. Essentially these are alkaline only entry level models before you jump up to models like the LL300N and HV302.

In much the same way that Audi have models like the Audi A3 - the LL110 and the HV101 are intended to offer the simplicity and the features many customers require, without the price tag and they have been tremendously popular.

The Fukuda FRE-203XR actually competes directly with the big brother of the HV101 (the Spectra HV302) but being a mid-range laser does not quite have the same specification but equally nor does it have it's price tag.

A good way of comparing mid-range with premium brand lasers can be seen here:

It arrived today, like Christmas morning šŸ˜‚View attachment 9744

Really pleased you like it :)

If you or any of the Planttalk forum members who have purchased this kit need any questions answering, even as simple as... what's this button do, how do you set up this, what's the best way to do ...? either post the questions in this forum or simply freephone: 08000 869 769 (option 3) for technical support and one of the guys will grab one off the shelf and talk it through with you to get you up and running. The laser is very intuitive and straightforward to use but it's always nice to know you can call someone if you get stuck :)

Cheers,

Andy.
