I have no idea… it was incredibly polarising and a very interesting few months . I was very much in favour of the status quo, as I’m a lazy bugger and not keen on change. My parents suprised me as both very educated and liberal, one with a degree in European Studies, both voted out . Maybe in another few decades it will be clear who was wrong and who was right …
Agreed...
I was very much a remainder until after the event watching how eu reacted Ive now decided we probably better out than in...but time will tell.
Cost us a fortune though in time and customs hassles.

View attachment 59411 🤨 crack in the case and 6months of rain seem to be taking its toll ...and then there's the laser 🙂

Whats the obvious replacement for this leica dg400 if drying it out doesnt prelong its existence and are you upto speed with export rules into eu post brexit so we dont get hammered at our end ?

@Laser Levels Online

Thanks

Hi, thanks for your message.

Your best "True Grade" laser level option (a laser which you can key-in a percentage or gradient) as a direct replacement for the Leica Rugby 400DG is the Spectra GL1425C Extreme Kit.

The Spectra GL1425C shown here:

https://www.laser-level.co.uk/spectra-gl1425c-extreme-grade-laser-kit.html

This is a fully self levelling red beam rotary laser which levels on the horizontal and can set a slope / gradient in both the X or Y and or X & Y axis together. It is accurate to ±1.5 mm at 30 m, range of 800m, has an IP rating of IP66 (Dust tight / Protected against powerful jets of water) and a 5 year warranty. It is rechargeable but can also run on alkaline batteries.

It includes as standard the HL760 Detector which has the mm/inch display, a large pickup window and additional radio linking features like Automatic Grade Matching and PlaneLok.

At the time of writing the cost is £1,699.99 GBP (0% VAT France)

DHL Delivery to France is 3-6 Working Day Service and costs £49.00 GBP.

Although you will not be charged UK VAT at the checkout, prior to delivery you will be required to pay French Import TVA at 20%, Import Duty (typically around 4% but check first ) - Laser Level Kit HS code: 90153010 & Tripod & Staff HS code: 90159000. As well as a processing fee of around 8 - 16 EUR to DHL in order for the delivery to clear customs.

This is different for other countries, like the Republic of Ireland for example. Our Irish customers are charged 23% Irish VAT at the checkout which is automatically passed to the Irish Revenue Service as well as any duty and fees. This then allows the delivery to go straight to the customer without any customs delays or extra charges.

If you would like to order, simply add all the products to the basket and checkout in the normal way. Payment is then via credit / debit card / Paypal or BACS. Again all via the website.

Best regards

My Fukafa 203xr is pretty decent ..happily recommend it to anyone for the money and service. pass on the export rules though. Out of interest we're you an Inny or an Outy?
The FRE-203XR is an excellent Laser but is not a True Grade model (a laser which you can key-in a percentage or gradient). We have found in some instances, customers who have been fortunate enough to have a True Grade (like the Leica Rugby 400DG) often struggle to then work with a regular grade facility Laser. As such it is better that a customer sticks with a True Grade model of some type where possible.

Ok thanks for the info Mark - yes we deff need a laser that we can punch a % fall directly in, we use it almost daily for pipe runs this way.
I will see how that stacks up against buying from within the EU - I bought a digger ram for £600 ish and was from memory was charged about 50 % again before it was released.

All the joys of brexit.

Thinking about upgrading my laser to a true grade one having read this.

Currently have a basic Fukuda (FRE205HDG) which has been fine so I'm looking at the FRE-203XT as it seems to tick most of the boxes of the Spectra mentioned above but a lot cheaper.

Anyone have any experience with/comment on this laser? Spectra looks nice but nearly double the price and not sure it's worth that to me.

Cheers

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this - I was away on holiday.

The FRE-205 is a great horizontal groundworks laser and also allows you to manually set a gradient in both the X & Y axis for the occasions you are setting slopes or gradients for sewer pipes / drains etc...

However, if your usage has changed to now be significantly more work where you are doing gradients and slopes or you want to make this as fast and easy as possible then a True Grade laser where you can input the exact gradient is certainly the way to go.

This is where models like the Fukuda FRE-203XT or Spectra GL1425C come into their own.

For most customers, the FRE-203XT meets all of their requirements in terms of being budget friendly (well as budget friendly as a True grade Laser can be) and in terms of features. It is only when you need to have a range of up to 800m (instead of the Fukuda's 500m) that you would need to go for the Spectra GL1425C or if you need some of the high end features like GradeMatch and PlaneLok.

I hope this helps.

Best regards

So what's a good basic level( not dumpy)? Need one for doing falls when resurfacing unbound car parks and ditching runs where it's not obvious by eye?
Thanks Chaps. Great service!

Shoutout to @Laser Levels Online

I’ve had a few NivComps over the years- they are a fantastic tool and on jobs like this sleeper wall will pay for itself in a day.

Recently ordered a new one as my 2019 model was playing up. So I send it back to see if it was economical to fix as I like to have two.

It was sent back two days later with the screen replaced for free, and a new plastic bracket plus depth rods!

Unbelievable service. Buy with confidence. And yes, I got the planttalk discount on the new one I bought. 😍

I should mention that photo was pre cutting the tops off! The niv comp was used to set the height of the welded supports.
