No chance of that! The veg garden was cleared earlier in the year and is now Nettle City. The Mrs spends her time keeping on top of the pool cleaning. So I don’t want to burden her with any other duties!!!

Managed to keep going on the old set until the weekend when working on pulling up an old floor slab and foundations. The old boots literally started to give me all the lugs back!! Think I had made the most of them!!So you finally got yer new boots

Called Cautrac but got a slightly better price from Digbits and found a few more positive noises online about there’s than Cautrac. Astrak where slightly cheaper but not much info about them online. Was also worried about them not turning up next day!!
Delivered at 9am this morning. Cannot believe how much quieter and smoother that are compared to the worn out pair!!!

Been busy doing the clear up, reduce dig, foundations and concrete in the village for a nice detached house. Still keep forgetting to take photos. Just got this one after dropping blocks out on a Sunday!!

That's an unusual arrangement for the substructure Shaun. Do the brickies only raise the internal skin first and then build the outer at a later point?
Usual arrangement today is trench fill blocks to match the cavity width.

Despite rumours to the contrary I have heard of trench blocks. In this instance we have a 140mm inner skim 60mm cavity and 215mm outer skin. Could almost have gone with 215mm across the width. As it is a timber frame with quite a tight tolerance it is easier to do the inner skin absolutely spot on and let the Brickie’s deal with the outer skin while I am off site. I know that the frame should fit on then!!

, there's nothing wrong with whats been done. It's just rare to see it being done this way, as you'll know brickies want to have as little handling below ground as possible.
Anyhow crack on. Make sure the bearing is true and level for the timber frame sole plate. You don't want to know the horror story of having to repair a timber frame kit shimmed off the sole about every 2m spacing with no grouted bedding.
Nothing like watching the plasterboard shearing 12mths after construction as it all settles. Been there, got the T-Shirt.

Done plenty of timber frame work including many of these 3 storey timber frame travel lodges that are going up in flames!! Spend the time to get the concrete right, helps to get the block work right, then the beams sit about right, ready for the next block that has to be right!! Even got some new tape measures as I have managed to break the last of my steel tapes and hate the horrible vinyl fibreglass jobs!!

.... had some decent time in one o' they at the Ovlov dig day in Solihul a while ago ... was no tilty on it, so no-one wanted to play with it .... 'cept me ... was very nice - loved it TBH ... light on the reach, but smooth as silk, so well tolerable

Never driven a duck yet!! They are working on some new housing and there is a JCB backhoe and a bobcat being used. They don’t seem to be very busy apart from starting the diggers at 7am and putting them back at 4pm. Couple of tippers parked up as well. Must have most of there operators on holiday!!! Might see if I can get a shift tomorrow!!he'll want one if he does

... don't forget yer axle locks ... they'm weird on that ... you can ask Sean Patrick Vincent 'bout the locks on they Ovlovs IIRC Daz (@Exmayor )was stood there too ... but no one was fast enough on the camera

... some strange two position set up on the foot brake .... don't always lock me brakes on't 'Drema, forking about ... you'd soon remember on they Ovlovs though Footer block 1
