watched an 8 wheeler grab pulling into a local farmer's field (who spends more time muck hauling than he does farming with a gert traccy trailer combo) the other day ... he has some serious mounds of soil and crap parked in a field, right beside the A465

This one is actually being used completely legit, tacho, hgv licence, insurance etc. As well as giving a sensible price and decent service, unlike the handful of lorry company's I asked to quote.

I often wonder why you would bulk muck shift with a tractor and trailer, but I guess easier to get cheap drivers. Which can be a big saving and I guess if you say it is agri work, run on red with no tacho so can do long days there must be money to be made especially as it would appear the chances of getting prosecuted a very slim. I have never heard of a prosecution round my way.

But it gets to a certain point where you may aswell put a haul road or loading pad in.

And unimogs on tipper trailers aren't exactly great off-road. As soon as you put a trailer on a unimog they are pretty terrible off-road. I think it's mostly that you can't put enough weight on the drawbar to get the grip.

Unimogs are fantastic if they have the right trailer. They aren't designed to run with significant drawbar weight.

But without the weight they really struggle for grip. Atleast @Mogman s had a crane for ballast. But seeing weights fitted seems rare. Had to pull a few out just spinning on flat ground. A mates got stuck on a steep gravel driveway and had to be pulled up. Take the trailer off and they are unstoppable but with a trailer on the tractors always seem to get further.

Sadly not but I would of been locked up by now if I’d kept it went everywhere in it up hill and down Dale and a few motorways too mostly with a low loader on or that tipper I made
Running on red and agri tax got stopped twice, once running a red light (only just) and got my tank dipped on site (luckily I was winching trees up a bank at the time) both times I got away with it

That’s why I ended up getting a proper lorry to keep legal (just) plus the tyres were expensive
