f**k all wrong with tractors when used appropriately. The issue arises with the discrepancy between costs and paperwork to correctly run a HGV and that of a tractor.

A correctly setup fastrac and suspended braked trailer is as safe as a lorry, if not safer in some situations.

The issue is tractors are almost always piloted by 19 year olds high on redbull and Marty mone records, with wannabe chrome light bars, airhorns and stupid f****ng tassle curtains. They are only beaten in retardation by the odd Scania driver.

If the government sorted out a way to run HGVs with less Hassel, tractor lowloaders would soon die out.

They are clamping down on it here. Beginning of the year a young lad on a moped was killed after he fell off due to the mud on the road and hit by two cars unable to stop. Maize and potatoes should all be done with transfer trailers running in the field and unloading into wagons sat In The road. Or a hard standing area like the beet growers use.

none of that round here .... 2 years ago one local farmer had two telehandlers scraping 3" of sh1t off the road for a good 3/4 mile ... took it upon himself to close the road for a couple of hours whilst he tried to deal with the bloody mess .. got maybe 2-ish" and then left it like a bloody skid pan ... never prosecuted for it

I’d say the same. I hire a herbst crusher in at £600 a day and we get around 300ton out of it, any oversize I throw to the side for next time or drop it on the deck to smash it down. He’s just had a bigger crusher though so will need another machine to keep the belt clear and a 13t+ to load it, abit annoying really as it turns it into a bigger operation rather than a odd job day!

That’s is why I like my man’s towed unit that will handle 100-150ton that I stockpile at the farm from my jobs.

Just looking at these crushers for my collection of giant rocks, thinking spend a few days riddle the piles then break oversize up then get crusher in. Seems a shame to smash up 7 ton lumps but gonna need a load of mot style stuff to finish off and it’s that or I just leave them in the field for trust to pick at over years or worse get called back to move as they can’t touch anything bigger than a small straw bale

Lad rd here with smaller herbst crusher, got 16,9,6,3 tons on site all have riddle buckets and breakers so can process pretty quick

But weighing up keeping walking stone size stuff in a stash for future jobs and got some river corner work to do where gabions collapsed few of those big ones make great rock armour

I used to hire a lad in with a red rhino, was great for keeping ontop of the job! but painfully slow compared to when I was working around 60ton crushers
You really need a fair old pile to keep the Herbst crushers going, yet alone anything bigger..

Stone is a completely different thing to crush compared to concrete and brick, not so bad a bit mixed in with demo rubble or if you've pecked rock out but boulders and cobbles need a proper crusher. I'd be surprised if ur hired in man with crusher wanted to do the job tbh

It’s fairly soft gritstone but that means soft product but will have a chat with him before hand, he does a lot of as dug rock from rd here in limestone and sandstone.

The looks are a secondary benefit, removing the nutrients is the aim of the nature reserve.

Stopped job 3 times today,first time,too near ole....not the rig but because to close not enough room to stretch out arm so dipper sitting over wires if we continue,then went to try to drill anchors previously only going to be done in rail possession,IE no trains,live wires,not happy with weight,reach so came up with alternative,agreed with clients owner,then he wanted to go back n try again,doing same thing twice and expecting different results......
Getting bit pissed off having to explain straightforward safety issues, management were informed two weeks ago,but did not have nothing,no where to 'fail safe',blokes working on bank,25kv overheads main line trains with hundreds of people,'can you try'.....

Stared to riddle out the s**t pile, so dry don’t even need to shake it.

Ordered a Lloyd screener today off Callum at hhh for 5-9 ton, need 200 ton soil to finish this job should pay for itself on this job vs £40 a ton soil

Picked up some auction purchases, sad reality when you pick up that auction bargain to find it’s in an auction for a reason lol
