well all I can say is ****ing weather !!
had barely had the gear out ten minutes and it rained ... sunny when I opened up  .... been like it on/off all day:cry:

WP_20220608_13_14_36_Pro.jpg

cleaned up the plates for the last shelf and got that in first off
WP_20220608_13_14_43_Pro.jpg
WP_20220608_13_15_03_Pro.jpg

and got pee-ed on ..... the the sun came out again and it dried pretty quick ... MIG does not like welding in watter ... :(
WP_20220608_13_32_45_Pro.jpg

slid the top plate under the frame and tacked
WP_20220608_13_36_14_Pro.jpg

the slid it into the middle of the bench (flattest spot) and clamped down for the installation of yet more bits ....
WP_20220608_14_10_08_Pro.jpg
WP_20220608_14_10_19_Pro.jpg

and secure the top ... got rained on some more, on/off most for the day ...
WP_20220608_14_22_39_Pro.jpg

and having got it all assembled started to weld it up - carefully ... runs length-ways only on them legs ... cross welds'll bend the damned things ... and that'll really knacker a nice square frame ... much as I'd like to fully weld it ... have kept it spot on so far and there's plenty on there to keep it all together and rigid
WP_20220608_16_45_44_Pro.jpg

all welded and clamps off .... zero movement :love:
WP_20220608_17_05_56_Pro.jpg

WP_20220608_17_16_16_Pro.jpg

but was damned if I could get it on its legs ...... so ...
WP_20220608_17_20_34_Pro.jpg

couldn't quite get the height to swing it over so .... plan B centre lift
WP_20220608_17_28_32_Pro.jpg
WP_20220608_17_27_10_Pro.jpg

and sat it on its foot plates .... at which point it started to rain - again .....

..... was game over at 5.30 when the monsoon started .. I got it all away just in time ... and sat there in a box for half an hour waiting for it to ease off enough to lock up and leg it indoors

Monsoon my arse ...
This is the entrance driveway to our property a couple of months ago when we had one of our many, (this year), showers. (About 50mm of rain in 15 minutes)

tha's a lorrarain in 15 minutes Dave  ... I'd not have stayed very dry here yesterday between me bench and the back door .. easier to sit it out ...

not a lot done today .. rained 'til half two ..... but did get the base feet attached and all fettled up ... with a little help .. again, rolling it over for easy access with the grinder ..
WP_20220609_15_03_05_Pro.jpg

then he carried it out the way, to await collection/painting
WP_20220609_15_51_11_Pro.jpg

I've kept the one side of the plate clean for him, since it's been here, so in an effort to continue ......
WP_20220609_15_59_06_Pro.jpg

it got wrapped .... could've done with a hand to get round the lower bit, but Pam was out with Clara and her mum at her swimming lesson/club, so'll have to wait 'til the morning.
job done ... BIL's over the moon to have it all completed .... but he's not started painting it all ...... yet 😁😁

next little number's gonna be a challenge to get right ;)

BT struck again yesterday ..... no 'net for over 24 hrs ... ok yesterday morning ... went and did a major supermarket hit .. collected mower fuels and odds & sods ('kin dear morning) ... get back and no 'net ..... call SSE .. they check it out and looks like someone'd switched us off in the local exchange (third time that's happened :mad: ) and pissed off home 🤬 ... suddenly back mid morning, this morning and took a while to get 'usable' ... got a good mind to laminate up a sign and staple it to the exchange door in the village telling 'em to make sure to leave our line alone - bas**rds!!!!

Couple of years ago , four new houses down the road and connecting them up seemed to involve disconnecting existing houses. Apparently known as a “ fat finger issue” . I call it **** incompetent !

went off again at 5.20 yesterday afternoon, smack in the middle of paying a bill ..... ****ing wan**rs
failed to get through to 'em last night so they had full verse this morning ... luckily got through to the same guy i'd spoken to Monday so he was at least familiar and in fairness, very good .. was back on in an hour / by the time we'd finished our conversation ... he's calling me Saturday to see how it's behaving ... so far best it's been in a looooooooooong time
BIL and Pam's sister arrived 'bout 11 for some gate collection and a general visit..

plus a drool over his new bench ... very happy chappy

set them all out to explain/show how it all goes and for 'his boss' to get a 'feel' for 'em ... think she liked 'em :giggle:

made him some spacer bars to drop on the double hinge pins to set them up with, then packed it all into/onto his Berlingo van ... perfect fit inside and posts on the top .... slowed him down a bit on the way home apparently

been some bit warm here today
WP_20220622_11_33_05_Pro.jpg

started the day off installing a new pressure vessel in our water pump box ... have had it a while, but have struggled to find some nice brass fittings ... found, ordered and arrived a couple of days ago, so chucked it in this morning ... should reduce the starting frequency of the pump, when Pam casually flicks the taps on/off/on/off/etc.:( ... working well so far (y):)

WP_20220622_12_56_45_Pro.jpg

then moved on to drilling the BIL's new bench for his vice ..... couldn't make up his mind where he wanted it or which way round it's going to go, so gave him six options ..... three each side .... but first I reckoned his vice was long over due some TLC ...
so pulled it to bits, got all the crap out of it,
WP_20220622_13_28_57_Pro.jpg

cleaned the ways, lubed and re-assembled it
WP_20220622_14_40_35_Pro.jpg

good as new .......
then out with the Mag drill
WP_20220622_16_39_37_Pro.jpg
WP_20220622_16_50_59_Pro.jpg

followed by a trial at each location
WP_20220622_17_11_23_Pro.jpg

WP_20220622_17_12_33_Pro.jpg

etc., etc. .....
all perfect fits .....
and re-wrapped the top as it appears to have stayed pretty dry - considering
WP_20220622_17_32_43_Pro.jpg

finished the day off, after tea, with a full 'mow' on all the green stuff ..... lawn included ..... leaving it 'til this evening was a good move .. a little cooler .. just !!
WP_20220622_19_36_30_Pro.jpg

lovely sky again tonight .. 10.45

Did you tap the holes Druid? I've been making plates for all my stuff so they bolt through the bench with thumb screws into the plates. Means you can pop the vice or bench grinder or fretsaw wherever you want and secure in place.

Put 10mm under the drill (bolt it to a plate) then bolt through the 4mm into the 10mm.

there's now't going on it that's gonna get moved about much .. doubt the vice'll get moved very often TBH, but gave him all the options whilst it's here and holing is easy(er) .... 's only a 'general' bench ;)
