In todays times that isn't so horrendous, being able to look at what you're buying and being able to check that what you have in mind works has a cost. 🙂
Simple jobs are easier and much cheaper to source online..... even if you have to replace them a bit sooner than you were expecting 😉

spot on
trying to source metric on line is a nightmare - 3 gauges of the same size fittings -- light / medium / heavy -- nightmare unless worked on daily
BSP's a POP in comparison

OK .. as said somewhere here .... Russ has had me busy ..... yesterday was a /what should've been .. a simple-ish roofing job in Hereford .... but ..........
WP_20220705_07_39_07_Pro.jpg

it'd been sat for several months due to a 'bricky shortage' ... had been started some time ago and this was as found .. what was up was all shapes .. twisted / warped / bowed and sagging ... support wall still missing for the ridge beam's inner end ......and the scaffolding was a bloody farce with no interlinking accesses between lifts and traps everywhere .... we shouldn't really have been on it let alone expected to use it.
two "new to the/this job chippies" and some sh1t A4 drgs. ... was a 3 man-er really, so I wore a trench in the floor between rigging 'em and landing 'em/giving two nice lads a hand .... was that or still be there at half five!!
first issue was juggling the Glulam ridge into spot and trying to hold the flying end up ... good job there was a couple of conveniently located scaff uprights to hand .... shame the padstone was 60mm low

not a lot of pix of it going together .... too 'kin busy ... one of Russ from the ridge beam, looking .... er.. relaxed
WP_20220705_08_51_08_Pro.jpg

and an identical 'hutch's' roof behind

WP_20220705_08_44_11_Pro.jpg

bit of Hiab porn for the 'officianados' .......
WP_20220705_08_50_41_Pro.jpg

and an interesting tail end to the truck bed
WP_20220705_08_44_24_Pro.jpg

GF running round like a blue arse, issuing instructions to spread out loads of crap 10mm, 5 ply .... to supposedly 'protect' the paviors ... didn't work .. some serious tram lines and four craters, after he'd gone

anyway .... 5 hectic hours of winding Russ up with some cock on single leg slinging :giggle::LOL: .. sending some weird shaped truss bits up at perfect 45, to just drop into spot, anything else, that needed to be up there and we were wrapped ... 😎

Russ went off to Lydney for a quickie and I was home by two .. knackered .... could not sleep Monday night ... 3hrs sleep is not enough for me to perform at that level .... and then had 3 hrs of Clara after picking her up from school... slept a hell of a lot better last night.. (y)

SAS camp for eight this morning, sign in, hand 'em yer passport and phone for a lens sticker. then wait to be escorted in to where we had to be ... 'sposed to be a couple of 20ft twist locks to move ......
2 miles later and we're looking at eleven of the damned things spread about on two pads at the side of a single track road  :( .....
and having sussed what had to be done with 'em, our 'escort' insisted on us all slipping back to his office, for coffee and Hobnobs, 'fore we could even get going ...
too bloody early in the day for me, for choccy bix .....
and the coffee'd've been lovely with a few spoons of sugar ..
so half nine 'fore we were even rigging up.....
row of five, orientated as required with another row of five on top ...
with #11 sat awaiting on another pad, for a.n.other nine to join it at some future point ...

doesn't sound much, 'til you consider that you have to climb up and attach the chains, climb down, position it, climb back up and detach four chains, climb back down, then repeat, eleven times .... and get 'em all perfectly aligned, tight together, to simulate a row of town houses ....
were wrapping up by 11.15 as our 'host' returned to see how were were doing ... an' I'm on me knees ....

after six of 'em Russ was hanging out the cab asking if I want to do a swap and drive the crane for the others .... I've never driven Russ's Lieb and wasn't about to 'try it for size' this morning, even though I was melting and would've loved to 'take a seat' for half an hour. .... next nine 'praps :giggle:

Wrapped and out the gate by 12.00 ... dropped my motor on the side of the 465 and headed for Pontrilas saw mills, to prep. a site/make sure all was in order, for tomorrow afternoon's lift ... new tanalising chamber .... and off again ... heading back to get the P38 to follow Russ to the middle of no-where, up/down some pissy little lanes for ........... yet another hot tub ... " he sure can pick 'em "
get there and I had to talk him in on the two ways, off a lane, just about wide enough for the Lieb. onto a tight-ish drive
" Do me a favour Gra ... customer's asked for plenty of pix, if we can "
so I'm not only helping set up and getting slung, but dashing off every couple of minutes to get some shots too  ...
so you're in for a fest tonight :ROFLMAO: ... might run into a second post 😁🤪

these two'll stitch .... if I could remember WTF my pan software is on here
WP_20220706_12_57_35_Pro.jpg
WP_20220706_12_57_31_Pro.jpg

couple more juggles required, to get over anther 5+ ft
WP_20220706_12_58_06_Pro.jpg

I do the legs .. Russ gets the pads out .... too bloody heavy for me to get the bloody things out the rack these days, fair play to him (y)
WP_20220706_13_08_02_Pro.jpg

short rigged front O/S ... or the drive edging'd've looked very S/hand after
bit tight ...... but needed full rig and full ballast for the reach
WP_20220706_13_15_54_Pro.jpg

I'm stuffed in a bush on one leg trying to get this ... bit of camera shake sadly
WP_20220706_13_16_22_Pro.jpg
WP_20220706_13_16_26_Pro.jpg

Awkward little sod to sling ... very little subframe under it and flimsy slat-ed body work ....

two ways, for a perfect landing, in the customer's masking tape target area .... wrap up and away again .... " WTF are we Russ?? " had no idea where we were ... not 'my patch' at all ....
" Follow me down to the main rd. and you'll soon see "
sure enough ... Tump Lane right opposite where we popped out, .... in Wormelow in 1/2 a mile and know me way round the lanes from there to get back to the 465 to head for home.
5.00 am kick off for me in the morning .... Russ's for half six to get to Worcester for eight .... no idea what we're up to tomorrow morning, but we've got to be back to Pontrilas, for the afternoon arrival and installation of 5+t of tanalising pressure vessel !! ..... so shower and bed for me in a minute
