It’s what I do!
Bit more oil, more heat! But it think we are looking at low compression, it hasn’t been tipped over has it?
very often give our Golf two go,s on a real cold morning ... makes for a much easier startIs it worth cycling the glow plugs a few times? Like 3 x 15 seconds, and then run the starter for 15/20 seconds?
Yeh I know what your saying, I think we are a bit deeper in that heat and oil though, easy start maybe but not the overall fix.very often give our Golf two go,s on a real cold morning ... makes for a much easier start
and get sun burnt feet ..... sod that .. I'd rather keep the socks onBest take his socks off then!

Are they steel toe capped Jesus bootsthats right, safety first!
...that is how they sold it to me, but they don't have the plant healing powers they claimedAre they steel toe capped Jesus boots
how do i go about this....connect a cable to it directly from the battery? I'll have to try upload a photo tomorrow showing how much of starter i can see and what im supposed to clip on to...I’d go with @doobin’s shout and chuck 24v through the starter - see what happens. It’ll spin it over fast and ‘might’ end up firing. Otherwise it’s engine out by the looks of it (and probably still is if it starts with the superjump method to be fair!).
Yes you can try 24v’s to the starter but I wouldn’t advise it, not if you don’t want to melt the regulator, timer relays!
Those small starters aren’t built to use 24v’s so you could be buying a new one, and still not have a running engine.
Ok long shot coming up, the head gasket is gone between the two cylinders, or you have two bent con rods! It’s head off time! Drain all the coolant first.

looks like water pump and all associated gubbins off tooah, no thank you!
i'll see if i get a chance tomorrow. So drain the coolant, then off again with the rocker and then the next set of bolts in the image below, and obviously remove anything else obstructing this...

And not a lot of compression by the looks, I'd say either rings or valves gone, could be chunk of head missing between cylinders if it's ally head.or a damaged/cracked piston ....... tha's a LOT of heavy breathing

Rocker shaft bolts, water pump, generator adjuster, all head bolts, exhaust manifold, injectors pipes, wiring

Going way back to when you let the oil out what did it look like?
