Stick another battery directly onto the starter in series, making it 24v. That'll get it started so you can get it to a proper workshop.
That'd sure make it spin, but you'll blow all the lamps.
The alternator reg may or may not survive (current limiter on this diag).

It's hard to tell from the photos, but how close does the exhaust sit to the starter? It 'looks' like the starter would get cooked.

It’s what I do!
Ok get yourself a can and a bit of fuel hose, fill the can with expensive diesel, place the can somewhere higher than the injection pump, put the hose in the can, undo the bleed screw on the pump until the fuel drips out, do it up, remove hose at manifold from the the air filter. Put your hand over the inlet manifold, turn it over if bled up, as the engine speed increases take your hand away! Let me know👍🏻

can't beat a good ol' jury rig to determine a positive fuel supply and if it doesn't suck yer hand in there's a problem (y)

Drain some fuel out, put it in a beer glass, leave to settle for a couple of hours. See what separates out.

I prefer a coffee jar meself ..... saves having to wash it out and a LOT of ear ache ... just bin it after .. plus they have a lid so can be left on the bench out the way to settle ;)

well i completely drained the tank previously when I was worried about water in fuel. So the diesel should be okay...

but will give this a go anyhow. Will use a beer glass as advised, can't afford for anything else to go wrong 😅

ok will def give this a go Mick...

just to make sure i've understood you correctly....
  • jerry can of some premium diesel placed higher than injector pump.
  • Hose goes in the can... and the other end of hose goes to where?
  • undo bleed screw on the pump until fuel drips out, then close back up
  • remove the air intake hose and put my hand over it whilst turning it over, and when the engine speed increases remove my hand.

Sorry forgot to say, the other end of the fuel hose should go to the injection, for a short run this will eliminate any blockages in the fuel system.

Hi Mick ... you mention expensive diesel ... expensive as opposed to? Do you have cheap diesel in the UK?😂

Seriously now ... I agree that the problem as far as it is possible to predict from the distance, is fuel supply. Previously when it was still running it would cut out as if starving for fuel.

I just think it should be an equal opportunities forum. Whether you want to let your diesel settle in a beer glass wine glass or even in a fishbowl glass with a little umbrella and a straw.
A beer glass was good enough for my dad, uncles, grandad Etc. You can’t tamper with tradition.

Ahh you see my grandfather wouldn't accept anything bar a tankard. But to be fair the contents of his tankard really did power his excavator ⛏️
