presumably the NiCad operates the solenoid? can you not use the main battery to engage it with .... if it's a lower voltage, could always put a HD wire wound resistor in series, to drop the voltage if needed? (y)
Exactly what we did it's very temporary at the moment but it worked and the engine runs which is good as I didn't want to try and wedge a new one in the small space

Rose joint, or a spherical joint, or a spherical rod end. Any good bearing shop should be able to source these. You need to figure out the thread size and pitch, and if it’s the left hand threaded joint or the right? Assuming it’s set up with a left and right hand threaded bar?
It looks right hand threaded to me, the broken one that is.

some stock cars use joints like that for suspension links etc, and on the bigger f1 cars they are fairly big.

assume that's a spare .... as it's outside and doesn't have a washing machine rubbing shoulders with it ..... getting away with that in it's usual environment'd take a brave (or single) man :giggle:

got one here for similar usage ;)(y)

Finally the boom is back from blasting not as bad as I was expecting to be honest

I have found the rose joints aswell I was quoted £100+vat from a yanmar dealer luckily I have a bearing shop locally that can do them for £5.50+ vat each. Absolutely mental mark up there!
