You have to be careful when it comes to machine lighting using LED, the strobe effect can have the effect of making a spindle running at a high rpm look like it’s stopped. People have a tendency to put their hands close to things they think are stoped and it can cause serious injuries. We have fitted special led lights to machines and quite expensive but bloody good.

so an LED is a high speed strobe? .... rather than permanently on ??? ......if so I see where you're coming from re. apparently stationary spindles, etc. !!

Yes leds do have a strobe effect
when watching the telly the tv cameras pickup a flicker on cars with them day time running lights
