We are stacked already for 2020... got a job starting near Plymouth in March, horrific site which is a utter twat (as with all our sites, 2t excavator is having a winch fitted to do the inital clearance ).

Once we have done initial site strip and earthworks, there will almost certainly be a rake of work for a landscaping orientated owner operator with a crane portable (under 2t) mini digger and a decent set of balls. Greedy wankers need not apply as matey isn't massively flush, but all seems like a good site with a decent hirer, probably on day works.

If anyone is interested, let us know and i'll put your name in my little book ready.... I expect it will be needed late August/September IMHO

Sounds interesting. I would be interested in working with someone as a driver/labourer but I'm not local and wouldn't fancy taking my digger and dumper down there without a panel van to put them in.

Is that the latest book?
Had a few of the other books a while back but the rates didn't get anywhere close to what local rates were. Was probably looking at it wrong but their all in figures for small plant digging footings and muckaway costs are nowhere close.

I think you must be reading it wrong. The minimum wage for an adult is almost double that and that doesn't include bringing you own digger!

I didn't know there were price guides for this sort of thing. I thought it would be too dependant on the local market, but had a look at Spons website. Pretty interesting. But what I thought was very interesting was PDF versions of four of the guides for 99p on ebay - bargain.

Issue arises when people see a day as 6 hours or similar. Or want to take the piss. Fair rate for fair money.

No point dressing a job up. We are getting paid weekly for the money reason. But good work for the right man.

£300 for a 2t seems a fair rate when you consider what Bobcat are selling you one for on finance.

I don't know, but if I used them I would snap it up quick before Spon's complained to Ebay that someone was breaking the encription and copying them.

Is that the rate you charge out your labour? Or the rate you should be paying your staff?
