I still can't get over this is even a legit thread!!
Unless it's a big leg pull
Do the maths.

I could be a Takeuchi with it's exceptionally short warranty.... I also know of a member on here who when his boom twisted and the warranty mattered found it was worthless.

Being realistic with gate drop values is sense, and let's be honest your Takeuchi will drop 5-10k in it's first week of work..... No one is buying any machine a year old from anyone but the main dealer without a significant discount.

At what I'm getting as PX, plus 0%, plus the fact I trust the dealer. I don't think there is much matching from elsewhere.

Ultimately as long as it stacks up for you then who are we to argue!

Personally I don't care about first year or second year valuations. To me id cost a machine over say 5000hrs and and what is going to cost me the least in that 5000hrs. Tracks and servicing aside I'd expect very little extra outlay in that time frame.
And that's the reality of why I'm leaning to the Sany.

5 years, 5000hr warranty..... It's unlikely I'll craic it to 5000hrs in that timeframe but if I do we are safe theoretically.

At £50/hr it needs to do around 2000hrs to break even, which is very manageable.

£50 per hour sounds cheap. What does that include?
Operator, fuel, machine.

In reality it's more, I charge £500 a day and tend to work 8hrs, but I still base my sums off it as it's a nice number and working out based on lower rather than higher sides with pessermism.

I will also likely tweak the rate up with a new machine.

I'm £750 a day for my 86c, but that's grab work and does include an operator who can use a saw as well.

If you have the work to put the hours on it, a new machine is never a bad purchase. I'm up to 1200 hours on my E27 which is 2 years old.

Hourly rates are just fraught with disappointment IMO. My pricing is very much in line with how much I like/want the job! But you'll never get everyone to agree on a rate because of geography and individual outgoings/life requirements. £40 on the face of it doesn't make much sense at all but if push came to shove (L) I'd still sooner be out at that and choose my jobs and working hrs than nose to the grindstone working for someone else.

I work on a day rate for alot of my one off/irregular customers. I don't bother with hourly. I've cut off times and allow time includes travelling.

Similar to you the rate quoted is dependent on how much I want the job ect.

I've several customers that just let me turn up and do the job without costing. That way they get a job done at a fair cost to them and me a decent wage and profit. Took me years to find the customers and build that type of trust up with them.
