On a serious note, glad its going well. I think we are all waiting for it to be as old as one of your 175's - then we will know if the machines any good!

depends how you go about it Kev
i used to use a 12v caravan water pump with a plug to go into the beacon socket on smaller machines or 3cx to fill from 25ltr drums. worked ok for little cost one of the new 3cx machines i drove came with one from new thought it would not be any cop but worked well enough and no fkn about with funnels etc not the fastest but plenty good enough for me.

Are they not so 'quick fill' then?
Its all relative. Pit stop in a race car anything seems to take an age. Pouring some fuel into your digger not so time critical, but as long as the breather pipe is inserted correctly they are pretty quick, about 40 seconds for 20 litre.

couldn't pump at that rate ... I used to have a high flow commercial pump for fuel delivery in the yard and it wasn't that quick - close, but not quite that :giggle:

So an update.... we have had our first breakdown.
Had a slight oil leak from under the cab, followed by the Q/H non-functioning. Whipped the side panel off (TBH i'd rather it had solid sides like the Taki, but this is the one advantage) to see it weeping from a sensor.... Sod it I need to go up and look at 7 tonners.....
Took it up to Southwest handling on the trailer, expecting to drop it up and pick it up later in the week when the parts come.... Who is going to have that sensor on the shelf? Got there at 8.30am

Left at 11 am with the machine - They washed it too 🥰
So big props on the warranty side. Because the dealer is clearly on it with parts availability.

There is the looming question of the 7 tonner.... Having driven it, I'm on the fence. I can't notably feel a difference between it and the 175 in terms of power/speed/smoothness - which is good, but then it's a brand new digger VS a 20 year old digger...... and that worries me slightly as I feel I should be noticing something.
Build wise I like it - I am slightly disappointed that the engine canopy has been raised as opposed to the model in the brochure (10 cm difference). The engine is a Yanmar and very electrical.... but then they all are now? Valve block, slew motor etc seem basic (good not bad). My big concern is the size of the pump..... It seems very small compared to even a Hyundai 8 tonner... 🤮 Going to look at a Hitachi 70 later this week to see what size that is. I think the reality is they have gone for a Big single pump over a two-pump split.... whilst i'm not averse to it I do wonder what the flow sharing will be like running attachments.

Electric wise it has a touch screen.... I'm slightly put off by that, however it equally allows attachment flow rates to be altered through it yourself (big step up from other makes who make you drag the dealer and laptop out!)

Cab is nice..... However, it lacks storage and seems small..... The TB175 is similar... But the TB175 is 20 years old and Takeuchi are notorious in that era for super super basic amenity.

There is an interesting thing here though..... The SY75C I am looking at is clearly a newer shape/facelift/redesign of the SY75C's that you see when googling.... https://www.jdaviespencader.co.uk/used-equipment/item/2427-sany-sy75c/

Now I like the look of the oldershape better... However note the Cab and the weird back quarter panel curved glass (Expensive when it inevitably catches something on the lowloader)....

If they can do that..... Could you please sort out the weird door sliding window arrangement?
Anyway.... waiting on revised numbers. Likely chopping a 175 with 10,000 ish hours and a Manitou 1740 with 3400hrs in against..... If anyone wants said machines speak now....

What money is the 7 tonner? Would you not be better going up to a 9 tonner?

Excellent that they had that part on the shelf.

7 tonner *Should run the same buckets at the same pace as my current 175's.... I'm not fussed about bigger, If I need reach the Stickamajig will get stuck on the end. And the 7t should allow 600 pads whilst still sitting at 2.3m or so.... the goal in my life is to poke big things in small holes and considering we cope well where we go with 450 pads on a digger 500kg heavier the SY75 should on paper positively float.

Other things are Lorry.... which is still in the background but owing to long term jobs has'nt been needed can only carry around 8.2t legally before it becomes very gray. At 500kg ligher I should be safer carrying buckets and with the slightly smaller dimensions length wise (50cm shorter in transport) should sit on the lorry better.

Yes I loose the kingpost... but it's rare I use it tbh, particularly now we have a chain trencher for up against hedges, or the wheeldigger.

I have concerns, but they would be shared across other makes at a far higher price risk..... Price wise isn't fully nailed yet as there are bits to come off the quoted spec, but will be between 60 and 50k..... It's a 2025 unsold unit with 9 hours. Long and short, an unpopular machine in the UK owing to being close to the 8.5t on price without kingpost. But in all honesty I think its the right fit for me.
Equations-wise, I'm expecting a 15k drop out the depot gate in value.... Finance will be around 20k.... But obviously finance and warranty match on a machine this size and ultimately it's an incentive for zero mechanical issues. 0% interest in this day and age is a big bonus.... Bank would want around 10%APR on a personal loan at present, which makes a mockery of the 3%apr advertised rate (Well done Santander). I don't like debt and wouldn't be contemplating the purchase if it wasn't a free loan in effect.

We will see but as said very impressed with the dealer. They want the business and seemingly so do Sany.

Oh, and i've seemingly free telematics on the 1.9 which I need to setup.

I admire your willingness to try something new whilst still crunching the numbers and not being stupid about it. If it works out as you plan and I see no reason why not, you should be well ahead of the competition sticking with the big brand, high priced, but “safe”option. Getting ahead in business is often about taking calculated risks rather than the safe option.

I don’t think it sounds particularly cheap, certainly not at £60k.
My brand new TB260 on wide steels (no hitch/buckets) was under £50k last year. I know the Sany is a size up, but it’s a year old, already used, and will depreciate faster than other more mainstream makes.
Obviously there are part-ex valuations to take into account with your deal, and valuations either way on those (either in your or the dealer’s favour) can have a significant affect on ‘actual’ price.
I’d definitely get a few more prices from other manufacturers, if nothing else to use a bargaining tool with the Sany dealer.
(I’m not knocking the machine or your decision by the way - hats off to you for putting your money where your mouth is, it’ll be a significant investment whatever the outcome!).

Yes and no. It's not at the 60K end, plus they are giving me around 10k more IMHO than we would get from anyone else on the PX machines. The five-year warranty is worth my time along with the interest-free finance. I'm being a bit quiet on what it is atm as it's not signed and sealed and I need final figures but I'd not be considering it if it didn't stack up.

It's also the first machine i've really liked the thought of.... the 370 Takeuchi just annoys me for what it could have been.... The 260 is too small and the 290 is..... mediocre.... I do like the JCB's but the dealer puts me off, along with their renowned build quality.... KuboNo.....

Realistically, any other brand will be in the 60-80 bracket..... and in all honesty, I don't have the enthusiasm to owe more than 20k at a time.

To put it in perspective too since buying the SY18C I have twice been offered 219 takeuchi's at 3 years old minimum for more than the 18C cost.... and in all honesty having driven the 18C yesterday and the 219 today they are on par with individual pitfalls. But I can't see me hurrying back now.

Priced a new 75c back in 2022 and it was £48k, that was with long dipper, QH and 450mm steels. JCB 86C-2 was £73k then, obviously two different machines but I wouldn’t class the JCB as being £25k better.

Biggest issue I’ve heard with Sany machines here has been the back up with our dealer, from what I’ve heard the machines are good enough to drive and work with, and no more bother than main brands.

Friend of mine was for changing a 2014 Doosan 140 for a fresher Sany SY135C, he could see nothing wrong with it, would of bought it but couldn’t get his sold in time.

I say go for it, a big name brand won’t earn you any more and nothing is bulletproof, everything will give bother. I recently bought a Claas tractor for the same reasons, like for like the Claas was atleast £15-20k cheaper than the equivalent NH, MF etc, made it a no brainer to me.

If your expecting it's to drop £15k out of the gate. And it's already had a bit of use and a year old surely it's fair to expect a £15k drop off the new price! £50k would seem a lot to me for that I could picture a machine like that in that boom config up on Facebook in only a few years time doubt it would be much above £20-25k. That's a fair rate of depreciation!?
