Here's one from a couple of months back, working from a basket on a 350 ton liebherr with fly jib, I've no fear of heights but nearly s**t myself the first couple of times I went up 🤣

a man basket is a pretty disconcerting ride as there is nothing under you and not everyone can handle it @Conor ... takes a bit of getting used to, to be comfortable, particularly the 'bounce' :giggle:

Definitely agree with you Graham, not for everyone, I've been up in plenty of baskets but this was different the shear height was unreal. For reference the highest point on the roof was around 35m high above the slab

hell yeh .. looks a decent rig .. and a sizeable machine doing the lift ..... 300 quid a day I'd be up there .... as long as Russ was sat in the seat downstairs and I'd rigged it myself. easy money :giggle::giggle:

The mining industry is legendary for this. My dad tells it like this:
The cage driver knows which shift has been out partying the night before.
The cage is double-decker, 60 men to a deck and a perforated floor between them.
Once the cage is full, the cage driver can choose to let the cage down slowly and give the guys with hangovers and easy trip - but never does.
So the cage driver releases the brakes and lets the cage free-fall 6000ft until he sees the level marker and snaps on the brakes.
6k ft of steel cable has a surprising amount of stretch, so the cage bobs up and down like a yo-yo and the guys on the lower deck crowd into the corners (or middle) depending what is dripping from where.
Wearing whatever it is you didn't manage to avoid, you've an 8 hour shift ahead of you before you can shower it off.

I know he's been discussed in here before. But Curtis's crane rebuild project is a great watch ..
