I went to look at a used petrol one. 300kg? I pulled the starter handle off twice and the sales guy broke it as well. Absolute monster to start compared to the WN2540 deisel.

Loncin petrol IIRC. It’s still for sale …

I bought a loncin a few years ago as thought it be handy for odd jobs. It packs it down well enough but the vibrations render it almost unusable for anything more than 10-15mins. I wouldn't buy one again

I took that advice on board . My massive WN is lovely to use and you can operate it one handed which isn’t bad for a 800kg machine

totally going round in circles on buying a new plate (perhaps I need a forward reverse one!) I don't really want to spend any money on one that's the trouble! I've a few car parks to sort out (potholes mainly) and track repairs. Nothing major and roller probably overkill but a little plate is also too underwhelming. Belle, Wacker, Fairport. They all seem pretty decent to be fair but want as big as poss really at as little money!

buy a WN 2540 and be done with it.
They come up on eBay at sensible money occasionally, I fell lucky with mine! Big enough to do a large entrance splay etc but small enough for an extension subfloor etc.
I’ve always wanted a roller but can only justify paying for a 80 but need a 120 for what I do!

buy a WN 2540 and be done with it.
They come up on eBay at sensible money occasionally, I fell lucky with mine! Big enough to do a large entrance splay etc but small enough for an extension subfloor etc.
I’ve always wanted a roller but can only justify paying for a 80 but need a 120 for what I do!

I have hired one and will agree that they are a good machine.

DPU 100-70 I think.
It’s been sat in the way in the business unit since Xmas waiting for me to service it after we did a couple repairs. Finally got around to it today as it’s too wet to go mulching baby trees.
Washed up quite nicely.

Looks a lovely lump. I love the idea of the amount of compaction you get from it but the weight would be restrictive having to move it separately from the digger

We had the equivalent bomag, perhaps even a bit bigger. And a Hitachi zx26 handled it fine. The biggest ones weigh less than a bulk bag.

We have hired in a WN 2540 many times when working with my groundworker mate. Two things - they are heavy and I use my big red hook to unload and load it.
Secondly my mate is not strong enough to start it
