have read so many times, use it like a hitch and quietly introduce a few movements here and there as needed, incrementally and it eventually becomes instinctive

All that is needed really.. had my mobile welder guy do one for me, not joking he used 15 rods!! Won’t fall off anytime soon, I had ripped the last one off so he wasn’t playing around with this one

Eddie from old forum had a ec206 with tree sheer under tilty and some how had both aux and finger grab supply's working together to give it more flow
It should still work with just the aux under the tilty but be slower

Nice one Kevin, you'll never look back. That's a really nice setup you've got going over there with a good selection of machines and that lorry. Wish you the best of luck with it.
Practice makes perfect, you'll pick it up pretty quickly but I found it took me 500hrs or so to really feel like I had it sussed. Before then (and sometimes still now!) the bucket would enter the ground at the right angle but come out in all kinds of funny positions
I'll tell you my secret, which is Hedblom on YouTube. Does very similar work to us, plenty of septic systems too. Based in Sweden so the scenery is lovely and the kit they use even more so! What that guy cant do with a tilty isn't worth knowing - I learned a lot of tricks from watching his videos.
In one set of videos he builds steps down to a basement pretty much all from the digger seat - its very impressive!

I've spent many a evening watching Hedblom's video's, quiet inspirational and worth watching just for the scenery as you say. Firstly need to get the shear onto s40 (obviously) which won't be overnight, and then I can try both, it will probably come down to the job...if it's a case of few bits out of the way to enable us to get on then maybe under the engcon will work and then tilty off for an actual tree shear job, so less risk of damage to tilty and quicker and lighter,despite the obvious advantages having it under the tilty would have.

Not used it on the job but only played about at yard on a night for the obligatory tilty photo , with something in the gripper if you have one, bucket on a wierd angle and of course your favorite piece of other kit in the background, which I thought I nailed (tosser!)
Anyhow few random thoughts....
Quite pleased how quick it is to take off, despite it being ss9 , but at this stage still unsure if I should of gone full fat or not, the wacker controls it lovely and as I mentioned before you get flow on a dial and a sort of start ( don't know proper terminology) point along the prop roller which means you get a nice wide band of movement from creep to flat out but it's not quite plug and play as there is quite a bit of trickery in the cab that would need switching out anyway if you changed machine and of course its either/ or with Gripper/tilt- surprisingly there is option of momentry button or not for that switch and will no doubt soon find what works best.
Not going to get out on it for a while , we have a few 3t jobs where the wacker won't fit but then later a couple of jobs lined up that I reckon suit a beginner nicely where im out on my own with no pressure and can play a bit.
In hindsight I would of waited till the back end of the year to go through the process of adding the tilty .....it's been a bit of a mare trying to keep it all going and deal with the disruption of altering you main front line machine it just generally disrupts the flow of a summer workload, I have no idea how these well known owner ops actually make it all work/pay when half the time their kit is in sheds getting altered, maybe they have alt income or spouse whatever to carry the job along if needed
Detachable gripper is genius and will post a few photos up etc when chance arises, gives you a bit of insight into full ecOil but I couldn't justify it for our work and I believe the ecoil connection can be finicky if you don't keep them clean.
Wacker handles it lovely, short stick would of undoubtedly been better but bloody hell I remember thinking the old 802 super was superb and spent hours making bunkers on golf courses with a pin on bucket
so things have moved on sufficiently without having to have perfection.I have seen a Hedblom video or two but will have a proper look now its a form of schooling !
