Only just seen this thread, been AWOL for a while, Ive had both Volvo's with a Rototilt fitted. The ecr25d came from my local dealer in Maidstone, only about 15 minutes down the road, i persevered with it for about a year but it was just to Noddy with the tiltrotater fitted. The rep was going to get a second counterweight for me but it never materialised and when i enquired about changing it for a ec27d he couldn't supply one for about four months and wasn't really interested, at the time he was on part Furlough ? i believe.
While trawling around the internet i came across a listing for a new ecr27d from a Volvo dealer in Derby on Mascus, the rep couldn't have been more helpful, they are a well known muck shifting company as well as Volvo compact dealer. He had a build slot booked at the factory in a few weeks so i could spec. the short dipper option to suit the tiltrotator and a deal was done. Got regular updates on delivery date, very helpful with Rototilt change over and even a curtesy call a few days after delivery to see how i was getting on.
I have wondered what would happen regarding warranty work, fortunately nothing needed yet and had it over a year now, totally different machine to the ecr25d with the Rotatilt, much better balanced and far better to operate.

You must be very lucky.despite having had Volvo mini diggers for close to 20 years I’ve never had a courtesy call or even a call a week or so after delivery to see if things are ok.only had a couple of issues which got sorted but last one 3 years ago the plastic concertina bit under left control lever split and despite 3 years warranty it was not covered.i had a good rant on Facebook about it and Volvo service manager in Scotland read my complaint and got the problem sorted and supplied a new part foc fir me.allways found Volvo service to be brilliant but dealers never seem to be the same

Yep I found much the same, think they could sell a lot more kit with some better dealers, but I guess that applies to a lot of manufacturers.

So what do we all think about £29600 for a EC27D with manual hitch. £1200 with a hyd one, in stock. Tbh the small engine puts me off as it's only a 1.1L l. Price of new machines isnt levelling out. Kubota KX030-4 (not the hi spec model) was £33500

If engine is same as ecr25d which I’m sure it is you will have no issues.ive never been short of power. Apart from when first started but I allways run engine for 5/10 mins at cold start at 1/3 throttle to warm engine.

I’d avoid and go for one with a larger engine for your work (lifting and shifting).
I went for a bigger engine when buying my E27 and have never regretted it. On the other hand, the e19 has a smaller engine than the Hyundai 1.7 it replaced, and it’s noticeably slower when pushed (tracking, especially uphill, moving the arm whilst tracking impossible). I’d be regretting it if I still used it as I did the Hyundai (the 27 does most of that work now)
Clever hydraulic systems only compensate so far, despite what a salesman will tell you. There’s no replacement for displacement.

I've just watched Gunners video on the zero tail version and think the Volvo is too flimsy for my line of work. Far too many plastic panels to get caught on trees and rocks etc. The think with the small engine is even if they manage to get the same power out of it I wonder what longevity would be like. You'd think it would be higher stressed than the bigger engines. I'd want to keep a new machine untill 4000 hrs

To be fair it's not like a car engine where you can rev it to the redline all the time, it should be around optimum rpm when in the working range. But a lot of the smaller engines do use higher rpm than a competitor machine with bigger engine so depending on the work you do can be thirsty. If you think you're gonna be working it hard you want bigger motor.

It's tracking and dozing which seems to need the most from an engine. I was going up a very steep slope the other day. Both tracks spinning and just managed to pull myself up with the bucket but boy it needed every last horse.
