Use a small firm 2 x 6 wheelers but great guys and suits our Peak District needs, use Travis extensively over the years, Buxton limestone best stuff going. Had some sh1t mot from maltby on current job, so much dust and turned mushy then got some Buxton limestone. Night and day difference.

You sure it was from Stainton and they wasn't just saying it. Stainton is usually top quality and bright white.

There few quarries further up that are like as you describe but not that colour either.

I only speak with Pete, always looks after me - everything comes from Buxton, they drop to me and then go pick sand up down the road

Mine did about 6 months of daily work when I tried a career at forestry/hedge laying at 19. Not done much since then apart from a few cube of firewood and a LOT of oil tanks. Pokey little classic saw. Runs well, but invariably will cut out when your finger comes off the throttle from full chat. Might be time for a service! - mine has probably only ever been touched twice for maintenance apart from cleaning and blade sharpening. Yours will sell on ebay for spares and repairs fairly well. Saw a running one advertised for £350. Mine was the most expensive thing I had ever bought at the time, my first ever Hire Purchase. Think the saw was about £450-£500 with the vat back in 1999.

I'd like to of got it sorted but it's not my expertise. Good to know it's still got worth.

My other saw is a dolmar in makita colour, tis a beast but has no working chain brake.

Google says 1986-2001 they were produced. Mines a late one based on that.

Mammoth day, 6am start on site, 110 tons base in. 2 of us loading and ferrying it. Started badly when first driver shot out like 14 ton and knocked all ply sheets about.

400 yard run from tip to lay, navigating narrow gates and paths.

Paver had a time of it on tight wheel spoke shape

50 tons of wearing course tomorrow

Had usual irate neighbours having a go at waiting wagons, dumper died mid journey full of hot tar in driveway/access road (loose relay)

Had thought about using my big 12x6 road plates instead of osb but another thing to

Told the surfacing lads to hire a smaller paver but they don’t like them screeds bend they said and light on back end on 3.6m width

Terex was much better at tipping into paver and held 2 more 5 ton grading buckets than the thwaites but wider and trickier to navigate a 2.6m gateway at a trot

More messing - reprofile this old yard - 25t of muck came out getting it graded through - rake was just the job for the old tar - few decent size slate slabs to share between doorways, always harder than it sounds when they're all thicknesses, blind it back over before a gravel finish.

Only quarry near Maltby is Stainton. Its a Breedon site now. Been in several times over the years. One of the only places I know that still let you manually sheet a load.

Usually they are bang on with product.

Drive under a spray when its dry n dusty here - some trucks have sheets but its not mandatory to my knowledge.

I manually sheet my lorry but H and S has led lots of places to stop you from climbing on the lorry to sheet it and will only let you in with easy sheet. They won't even let you drive out the gate to sheet up. Load of nonsense really.
