I planted 350 whips last year and lost 300 of them as it was uncharacteristically dry for Devon. Kept on top of it this year. I was about 3 weeks into it being very dry before the penny dropped, but think I have saved 95%. One larger beech tree that was moved had dropped its leaves, but after 6 weeks of bI weekly watering it’s thrown new leaves
It’s going to be a shock when it starts raining.
