For the build cost would you not be getting in to second hand pedestrian flail money??
The big ones have independent breaks so not to physical to turn. Straight line just let them do there own thing no holding levers and they have to be a slight bit more comfortable than a little skid steer on rough ground. Plus they are unstoppable.

You’re quite possibly right. I haven’t looked at the numbers yet. Still at the daydreaming stage.

just needs a Dane stand on the back, hydrostatic drive, zero turn .. 's an awesome beast

Set up with a hydraulic top link in float with the linkage in float also, the alpine and topper handles just like a commercial out front mower, only much better offroad. I was doing 9.5km/h pretty much constantly, which is FAST for such a little machine!

I'm totally spoilt by this tractor, I look at your photos of tractors and ideas of loader mount mowers (go for it!) and think- that just looks like hard work

I'm still after a mower like Druids for the churchyards though!

I'm that impressed with the tractor that I've asked for a price on a new one with cab, possibly sell most of the others and have just the one. We will see however!

It wasn't as hard work as I was expecting to be fair, and normally it's out in the open fields, late afternoon in the cooler sun, even better
I don't do anywhere near enough grass cutting/topping of any kind to justify anything better to be honest. The loader mower idea will only happen if a specific job comes up for it, or the mower falls into my lap for not a lot...
The problem with alpines for me is my knees are up round my ears when I drive them!!

I'm the same height, only driven an AGT 850, found the worst part was the angle of my feet to the pedals made it hard to be smooth, not ideal when you're flail topping high brambles or got a heavy wood chipper on the back!

I've only driven Ferraris and found the same but thought it was just as much the the actual clutch design on such a small machine that wasnt smooth. I think you can get hydrostatic ones which would improve it. I think doobin said his was hydro.

Obviously they are an expensive option against a major though. And your competing against robomowers which seem to be the latest race to the bottom

good luck finding one Doob ... took me nigh on two years and a trip to Lefty's down in Cornwall to get mine (which turned into two - one for spares) which is pretty complete, but missing the starter so never done anything with it

same sort of beast as me Dane Super Surfer ... great mowers, but the Dane is far better built IMHDO -- seen several Wrights down Brightwells before buying the Dane - not a patch on the American built Danes -- built like the proverbial tank

were averaging 1500-1800+ quid five or more years ago when I bought mine ... the sit ons are even worse .....
IIRC the last time I looked, they're north of £15k new

TBH if it's clean it's not overly dear in todays market .. especially as you'll earn with it ... they're fast - 14km/hr on decent ground and leave a good cut
