My wife works for a big engineering consultancy they got done for 25m dollars in china, their Hong Kong office transferred the amount of a number of days after receiving a video call from the big boss, the scammers used a live deep fake video call to get them to transfer 5m lumps into another account.Scum. We've had similar asking our accounts guy to transfer 10k to an account...
I personally know of one a few years ago where they got 14k from a company...email purportedly from a director to accounts lad asking for 14k urgently..
Went to a bank fraud seminar year or two back...women from police cyber crime agency started by saying this is this folks full time job to scam folk and their very good at it and getting better. Some of the stories she told were horrific..
Solicitors getting emails hacked and poor folk paying their deposits and even full amounts for a house into wrong account
All I'd say is rely on instinct and my policy is I'd rather piss a customer or supplier off for a day or two than get scammed...if it doesn't smell right back off.

They got on the network captured his video calls then used ai to create enough data to be able to fake him live on an internal video call! How bonkers is That !
Wasn’t an emailed video was a series of video phone calls with responsive chit chat etc

How are we going to protect ourselves if scammers have a tool like AI ? Can AI recognise itself ?We have a friend that runs a computer software company. She regularly posts videos to her staff which have company updates. I was working there last year and she came out of her office one afternoon and should me a 5min video that AI had created of her giving a speech which AI had created from just a few prompts about content. It is very scary what it can do…….and it is apparently getting better at it on a daily basis!!
quite simple ,no more paying for kit and kaboodle unless face to faceHow are we going to protect ourselves if scammers have a tool like AI ? Can AI recognise itself ?

no phone number ?Hi
I hope you're well.
We’re looking to carry out some building work later this year and would really value your expertise. Would you be able to provide a quote for the project?
If so, I’d be happy to send over our plans and drawings, which include a brief outline of the work we have in mind, ahead of our onsite meeting.
I’d appreciate your prompt response. Many thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Helen
