No but it does still give off NOX particles which I didn't realise.....

Well there is a risk of explosion with any gas. We mitigate that with some safety features (like adding a smell to it) so I'm personally not too worried about the safety of it. The risk of it leaking more are not to be ignored and we will no doubt have to upgrade our network if they intend to supply it that way. None of your points are disputed really Druid, but I just wanted to make people aware of the NOX given off when hydrogen is burnt in some circumstances because the way the media are talking - it only gives off steam which is not the case. I for one wasn't aware of this until I did further research.

As for Hydrogen manufacture, I also agree, that where we are currently is not good enough and society needs to find a way to generate it without it being carbon producing. Same for electricity may I add because as it stands currently, unless you live in Scotland, most of our energy is produced down south using Gas, so carbon neutral the electric car is not! Some good accounts to follow on twitter for those on there, one of which is @NationalGridESO which gives daily maps of what is producing electricity in your area. An interesting follow.

To be fair I've never seen mention of pure hydrogen as a replacement for nat gas but a mixture of hydrogen and ? which i guess lowers emissions and helps keep it in the pipes.
Every gas boiler we fit is ready for 20% hydrogen mix already. Adding 29% hydrogen to existing gas network would be a massive carbon reduction (in theory)

The correct answer is that there is a plan to build a H2 production plant on the old steelworks site across the road from Wilton.
well they'd better pull their fingers out if they'm gonna be burning it in Whitby/Redcar shortly then ........
the 'burning' Q is .....
will it be an electrolytic plant or conventional (as per 99% of UK production) plant producing from coal/oil/gas??? ...
if so WTF is the point when it produces more CO2 than it saves ...

which we all know by now has fk all to do with 'the global warming' farce and which is an essential (and declining) 'ingredient' for the continued existence of all life on the planet.

I'm pretty sure Magor brewery is in the process of building 1 too
they're building one, or there is one being built at the site ...... can't imagine the brewing industry produces a lot of H2 ??? all sorts of other gasses, quite probably :unsure:

Totally agree, not fit for purpose unless the property suits it.

I have a Mitsubishi ASHP fitted in 2012 in a very highly insulated house with underfloor.

Until my electric went up I was paying less than £400 a year in heating and hot water on a ten year average measured by a meter I had fitted by the pump.

In an average house without underfloor or ridiculously oversized rads forget it, it just won’t work well at high flow temps for standard rads needing 60 deg. My flow temp is around 30deg I think from memory.

Was very expensive even back then. Dread to think what it would cost now... especially compared to the cost of an efficient combi.
I bet you’d get 3 combis fitted for the cost of my heat pump and not be screwed for heat and hot water when the power went off!!

priced one the other week fitted 12kw ,14 grand
