It does seem surprising to me that there is not more activity to be seen. It seems big ships like that are paying about $500,000 toll per trip. Obviously if they all wait for the ship to be moved it is a cash flow problem, but if they decide to go the long way round and some are, they will lose that revenue. You can afford a lot of excavators and dredgers for just one ship diverting.

I think those dredgers are used for beach reinstatement and can fire the material a serious distance can also attach big pipes about 4ft in diameter to pump a good mile
One side of the canal doesn't seem to have a lot going on so if it's fired out there any solids should have settled out by the time the water drains back to the canal

looking at the pictures we have sand one side lots of sand surly with a blank check you could mobilize a few dumper a few dozers and diggers put sand in the puddle both sides of the boat pump water in to the bit in the middle float the boat dig out sand couple of days tops mate
