I did a lot of tramping on my 3cx.. most days I’d be on the road 3hrs a day at least, I’ve seen some absolute idiotic moves over the years! Had motorbikes under front bucket (how they weren’t mince I don’t know!) wagons overtaking me only to pull back in halfway along side me, over taking around roundabouts and then pulling across infront to get where they wanted to, cyclists holding onto back bucket for a sneaky pull.. probably should of had a dashcam

I had an impatient lorry driver remove all his back lights on my front bucket. Was itching to get round me then took it right a the wrong place then a car comes in the opposite direction so he cuts in way too soon. I couldn't go anywhere there was a bus stop full of people to my left at that exact moment.

Some of the dedicated cyclists are hard to get round with the speed they do now.

When im out in the wheel digger or rubber duck, i drive with all the led lights on as well. If it's first thing the lights are high up so its hardly blinding but the amount of mongs i seem to come across is unreal

I saw that elsewhere - horrible for all involved. Seems a very harsh sentence for essentially having no flashing beacon though. I’m not sure if that would have made much difference to the outcome.

Friend of mines dad ,copper on the scene ,estimated speed of bike 100 mph ,also the deceased took a phone call on helmet speaker / phone 2seconds before impact

aside from the beacon issue, he was probably crawling along, there are several turns onto the A40 (a DC) from side roads in that area with virtually zero slip ons, just a junction - I know it well -
the fact that the traccy /trailer combo should not have been on the road / was unfit to be there, is an almost certain contributory factor to the sentence's severity.
Plus, as Rory says the additional circumstances.
let's be fair, it is high time that ag. vehicles were subject to far harsher scrutiny, regular inspection and requirements to comply with a level of safety that all other motorised road users have to adhere to
and then start on the bloody cyclists, who for the most part are bloody clueless

It's rear lights were working ,no flashing amber.bike going too quick ,tractor towards the top of the leys hill ,it wasn't dark ,Mr Baker has been hard done by

A tractor and trailer is hardly discreet beacon or no beacon. I know there are some motorbikists on here so id better tread carefully but lately have witnessed some absolute dickhead maneuvers by bikers and as such will often read a a story like this with more than a touch of vacillation.

totally agree -- some of the 'born agains' are accidents on their way to the scene .... many seem to have been lobotomised

I’m still blown away by how nice it was in Belgium and how well cyclists and motorists got on. I also saw police giving some cyclists absolute s**t for bad riding .. which was healthy to see
We have a lot to learn from some of our European brethren .

same in France when I used to ride over there ... most starrt their motoring careers on two wheels and have a much greater respect and awareness of two wheels .. will even pull over/get out of your way/give you space to make progress ... brilliant place to ride - Germany/Austria/Switzerland the same - the italians are just bloody nuts ... the Hungarians were just nasty

had the same on the Rapier self propelled crane once, going up 'the rock' - 4 miles of 1:12 ... slacked the winch off a few inches to allow the hook block to swing/bounce about - bet he needed fresh Lycra after that

says it all really ... can well believe the speed ... as for having his phone connected to helmet - bad enough in a car, but you need absolutely ZERO distractions on 2 wheels - idiot - and HTF do you miss a trailer full of bales in front of you

everyone is so impatient ffs, driving lorry and people just has to be past, no matter where, i know following lorry is not the nicest but overtaking through the villages
off to see a job on road bike few nights ago and someone was overtaking a moped round a blind corner and left me with a arse clenchingly small gap to get through ...wtf,
