They don’t take a refuelling hose though.
We were forced to clamber up onto a machine to fill it from Jerry cans because ‘helfandsafety’ wouldn’t let us use the excavator’s refuelling hose in recycled 25l hydraulic oil drums because they weren’t proper fuel cans…..
The world is f***ed, I want to get off!!!
Did you ask to see the Risk Assessment and Control measures for that particular problem.
Or perhaps it was written into a Method Statement

.........and yes it does take a big adjustment. In 2009 after 30 years service I was only 53 but realised that I would need a year or so to adjust. BUT, I has planned for it well in advance. The next day I was happily 'self employed' ☺️
And what you have gone through Gra is a real lesson in life itself. My biggest fear is if suddenly I could NOT work....
.......and SWMBO would sell all my boys toys to you lot :ROFLMAO:
aye .. never been 'ill' in me life - bullet-proof .... came as a hell of a shock ....... never know WTF is round the corner :oops:

They look like they may be a useful addition to my fuel store and site use.
AND a worthwhile business expense.
I have a very nice 12v submersible that empties a jerry can quickly into my little machines that that may be the way to go
think you'd need to sticker 'em up Dave ... IIRC the max that can be dispensed into a can on a forecourt is 10 L though :( ..... have had grief a few times over the years, filling 20L jerrys

......yep likewise Gra. Had me tonsils out when I was 4 and that's it. Don't take any medication except for beer 🍻
Now I got a first 'effing dose of Covid it tends to make you reflect on what ifs
On a positive note, after 5 days I've turned a corner and now feel ready for action any time now ☺️

Yes, I've noticed many garage forecourts display 10 litre approved container notices. Although never had a problem so far with 20 litres of petrol into a jerry can for the wacker and stuff ;)
Maybe our industry needs some advice for small users like me...

have had pneumonia twice and pleurisy twice too, getting soaked on jobs (and ignoring it - as you do), but shook it off pretty quick, as was always pretty fit. .... a lot more circumspect these days

Forced by who?

Sucking derv out any old tub is same as sucking it out a bowser.
Cuntstomer. They are always right don’t you know!

If they pay the fiddler, you dance to their tune. There’s a recent thread on here about it, bullshit health and safety essentially increasing risk through a blanket ‘rules is rules’ approach…

We’ve worked for a number of large ‘high compliance’ organisations over the years (and continue to do so for some of the the least-worst). There are often ridiculous hurdles to navigate, often enforced by otherwise-unemployable human beings with no ability to see beyond what has been written by others with no actual experience of the task in hand.

Little Britain’s ‘Computer says no’ sketch has rung true more times than I dare consider over the years - nowadays my bullshit filter and lack of patience means that we are either used on the job on our terms or life goes on (most people use us….)

Pretty much what i use now. Trouble is finding something which refuelling pumps fit into but you can also use with a spout which arent ridiculous price and to throw away after a few months.

I don't understand why machines don't have extendable filler necks like old land rovers then spouts wouldn't be a problem.
Those anti glug cans are great on 90% of machines just the odd one we have a funnel for and they are a lot thicker than the standard cans that come with oil in. We have had one as a water drum for tarmac for 2 years without splitting it

So been spending some more of my 'bottom line' this morning in preparation for April Fools day

Bought some nice Black Jerry Cans like these
With the pouring spout option for good measure
Big vote of thanks to @Smiffy for flagging up this Company.
They have a superb range of water tanks and fittings that I just love playing with.
So have opened an account and will be buying more stuff

Ordered some UN 1202 Labels from L&S like this

So as a small one man band think I've got enough to get on with it ;)

So who was it that mentioned "transesterification" :ROFLMAO:

Get ready to be lynched when filling Jerry cans at the pumps 😂 you are likely to be mistaken for panic buying.

When I used to do some racing pre-covid, it was normal for me to fill up two or three of the green 20l fuel cans with shell optimax for the race car. Only ever been questioned once, and told them I wasn’t emptying them out so they could either take my payment or I’d be off on my way leaving the cash on the counter! 🤣 I seem to remember diesel is less restrictive on quantity 🤔

When I start them fill up malarky I'll have the digger on the trailer to then be able to claim the moral high ground 😇
The general public will have no clue as to why we are having to do this at Supermarket Filling Stations 🙄
But there again, who give a flying fcuk as to what others might think :ROFLMAO:

Certainly safer than having a couple thousand litres in a tank somewhere. They be a few thieves looking forward to 1st April .

Agree with that - I use an old shed as my fuel store. Anderson shelter and concrete base job.
All locked up and CCTV etc
Most it ever has had in there is 3 x 200litre of RED which is now almost all gone.
Will be reduced to a few of each of what I need. Will continue to keep petrol in steel Jerry Cans.
Think that large plastic tanks are very vulnerable to theft from.
Have seen them spike the tank and take a few jerry cans worth and leave the rest to piss out and contaminate the watercourse

I’ve seen that as well . The temptation will be too much for them now with the price of white being what it is
