…his boss had a change of business model
Lorries all sold and Rod is now promoted to site manager of a large commercial site 😎

I know a big company round here is saying sod the lorries, they are all auction bound.

I charge same rate for concrete as muck with my grab. The time loading concrete far offsets the difference in tipping costs. Even if you have free concrete tip your always running it the wrong way to get to your next job.

It’s exactly what happened. They had 9 nearly new Mercedes on the road. Decided very quickly and they were gone 🤔
Local company here charges 160 for concrete for their crusher run and 260 for mixed grab muck away, both plus VAT. Free hardcore tip on their site, which I use if nearby with my tipper trailer 🤪

So over the last year or so, I've spent hundred of pounds on my old Arrowhead S20 with Nigel @Dr pecker :p
Great bit of kit now that it work like new, so decided to give it a paint job....View attachment 33712
Always wondered what was inside that yellow case...
View attachment 33713
All tarted up with JCB Yellow - hope it doesn't all flake off :p

View attachment 33714
Top hat and hoses replaced with the 'new' point ready for testing....

Perfect - another job jobbed

Now gotta decide whether to keep it or sell it.
Only using it 2 or 3 times a year on paying jobs, so it's not earning it's keep......
Don't ever sell it, just trade it in for a nice shiny Tecna T80..😁

Had set of them n Britool spanners, when I left college, wasn't paying snap on even on the drip, sockets long gone, still got some spanners ,38 years old now don't get much use these days
Those Britool spanner’s with the slightly rough finish were about 50% the cost of snap on when I started in the trade. I still have the first set I bought minus the 10mm and 13mm which got lost. The other common sizes are fairly worn now but a great set of tools. To give an idea a set of snap on combination spanner’s 10-19mm is around £500 nowadays

Yep, my other 'go to' brand is Britool, have got a 3/8th drive set in Britool.
AND have 2 x sets of Kamasa Combination Spanners @V8Druid
The basic set lives in the pickup truck and the ratchet set lives in the workshop

Always wanted to go down the Snap On route, but a young family back in day, couldn't justify it.
Even then most of my Kamasa or Britool tools were gained as birthday or Xmas presents 🥰
These days, I tend to go for Machine Mart Professional with a lifetime warranty 😙

Guys - many of you are owners of Caravans (or won't admit it) or hate them but you gotta see this on eBay

This guy is a real joker.....
......BUT he is donating the proceeds of the sale the the British Heart Foundation in memory f his late father 😇
The write up is superb and similar to the humour found on this site....
....in fact - is it a member that is selling it @JD450A 🤣

Yeah had full set AF n metric, and old 1/4 witworth for battery terminals, one time had spanners upto 50mm,sockets upto 1" drive had laugh once, new guy who's been fitter in a factory, came to quarry, couldn't understand why big spanners, for adjusting crusher were so "short"....slogging spanners, didn't last long!
Got few mates with big box sets in van, these days got all I need in Stanley bag, still get by,used to have hammer spanner, adjustable with hammer head welded on handle, take off pipes, knock out pins, till some one else reckoned they had more claim to it,these are useful wide opening for size, had set lasted years,

If I started in the trade again now I would purchase sealey premier and the like and just add snap on to the very well used items. Whilst the snap on product is great I have spent a small fortune on their stuff which hasnt earned me any more money than a tool kit that could have cost 50% less. You can lose a snap on spanner just as easily as you can a cheaper alternative but have to earn twice as much to replace it

Hands down best spanners to have in your box is gedore 1B. Very good all rounders
Gedore, King Dick, Britool all good old skool stuff ... can never have enough spanners / sockets ...
Original old skool Kamasa and original Hilka (when the jap.s made 'em with lifetime warranty) were also good stuff
plus of course a full range of AFS Bahcos :giggle:
Snap On have always been over-rated and vastly overpriced, as were M.A.C. .... nice in the hand but not worth the premium prices IMHDO
Teng ain't bad for the money.👍
another overpriced brand IMO
